Leisha Hailey for NO-Plane Yogurt....

Hey Leisha....how's that No-Plane Yogurt you got from your Southwest flight?

'Discrimination good!'

'Misunderstood good?'

'No in-flight movie good!'

'No flight at all good?'

'Heartbreakingly good!'

'Tragically behind the times good?'

'I love her and it was worth it but still totally unjust and sad good!'

...the more they stay the same? Leisha Hailey was removed from a Southwest Airlines flight after some 'passengers had complained' after she was witnessed kissing her unidentified girlfriend.

Pull up them drawers!

Sorry, couldn't help it after reading the article and seeing that they also escorted some famous dude off a flight for wearing his pants too low.

Honestly, I can see low pants being offensive, seriously, I don't know why so many guys seem to think that's cool.

A girl kissing a girl though? Seriously? That's going to offend you? The first thought that enters your head when you see that is lesbians? The second thought that follows immediately upon that one is "offensive!"? Grow up.

My question, was it a deep, passionate kiss, and, if it was, would they have escorted a hetero couple off the plane for indecent displays of affection?

If it wasn't, c'mon. Even if it happened to be true this time that they were lesbians, that's not always going to be the case.

Abigail Drew.

And, I repeat.

Even when they are lesbians: GROW UP!

Sad state of affairs...

bobbie-c's picture

It's a sad state of affairs indeed, but as someone on the other side of the gender-transender divide (being a trans-person and bisexual), I can only say that it's not so much a case of "the more things change, the more they say the same" as it is "the changing levels of acceptability."

We tend to focus on the more obvious things, like in this case, Leisha's kissing a girl. But, isn't it that, in the beginning of the century, PDA's were scandalous, even if it was a heteresexual kind of PDA? The fact that Leisha was able to be with her girlfriend openly out in public shows how far it has changed since then. I suppose that we who are the discriminated party here, we can wax on and on about how society is so unfair to us. I'm not saying that it's fair - I'm saying that it ISN'T, but it is so much better than how it was before. Fifty or so years ago, I doubt if someone like me would be allowed, and I could expect a lynching anytime.

There are the shakers and the reformers - those that test the edge of the envelope and challenge the system and the current mores, like Leisha, that pave the way for people like me to be allowed to live the way we want.

I am no trailbazer or reformer. All I really want is a chance to be happy, even if its not exactly on equal terms as everyone (almost equal is good enough for me, actually). And as such, Moe-Moe n I refrain from PDAs - handholding or arms around waists is good enough. A compromise, true, but, like I said, all I really want is to live. I, in fact, resent the attitude of some that say it's my duty to fight for the rights of people like me. And I have to ask, "sez who?" I'm not a Martin Luther King, or an Anita Bryant. And who are they to demand me to be one? Walk a mile in my shoes first. (Manolo Blahnik size 5 1/2 or size 6 slim heehee)

I guess many people out there would be disappointed hearing that from me... If I did, I apologize. I'm no hero/heroine, and I have never claimed to be - I'm just an ordinary person who wants to be left alone and live life.

I mean who wants to see that. I have a newphew who thinks he's cool when he wears styles like the rap stars. He's 13 and lives on a farm.

But two people kissing what about a married couple can she get on a plane and demand that married couples get the boot because she offended.

Amd poor Kevin Smith. It's not his fault that snack foods taste so good. This airline is just begging for trouble. I mean less people are traveling now a days. Do you really wanna kill yourself to the GLBT, wanna be rap star, fat people crowds so close to the holidays

Too large for coach

I don't know the details on the overlarge gentleman, but there is such a thing as being too large to safely fly. Back when you had to purchase tickets from ticket agents, in person, pre-screening took place at the point of sale; they just wouldn't sell you the ticket. Nowadays the call has to be made on the plane, because you buy your ticket online and they don't say you have to fit within certain dimensions to fly. So, that may well have been a legit call. Especially since airplane seating only seems to get smaller and more cramped with the passage of time, as expenses go up.
