Something I noticed the other day while doing laundry:
Most pairs of striped boxer shorts have the stripes running vertically, while striped panties usually have them horizontally. Why do you suppose that is?

Stripes

Stripes create an optical illusion:

Vertical stripes give the illusion of greater height and slimmer width, while horizontal stripes do the opposite.

so my guess it's to emphasize wider hips for females and slimmer ones for males?

Stripes

That urban myth got busted a couple years ago. Now you see all kinds of women's wear with horizontal stripes, whereas a few years ago there wouldn't have been any.

It has to do with fundamental qualities of the male vs. the female psyche and universal symbolism hardwired into our brain through the collective unconscious. That is unless it doesn't...

I just figured

It's a way to fool some idiots into believing their Johnson is longer than it actually is.

Who wears satriped boxers, or is that something you gotta do to be a politician?

Not really striped, but...

I used to wear "flannel" boxers, before I switched to all solid colors.

Not really sure why I did so... knowing me, I probably found them on clearance and solids weren't. I've always been a penny pincher.
