Hello people of topshelf, I have finally started to do something other than lurk and post the odd comment, though I've only been here for about a month anyway. So I'll start by telling you how I found topshelf; It's actually quite a long story.
It started one day when I was tromping through google results and I stumbled upon of karbo's work which, subsequently, led me to his creation the voracious universe of felarya (haven for voraphiles). In which many of the stories where hosted on deviant art and I ended up spending a lot of my time there. So through deviant art I found the works of majorkerina a TG fiction author and I became enthralled. After I had read through her works (which are still the best that I've read, in my opinion) I returned to google and soon discovered Bigcloset Topshelf.
Sometime during all this I began to actually think about why I was so obsessed about trangender fiction and came to the conclusion that it was because I wanted to be in a similar position as many of the protagonists of the stories found here. So with the knowledge that I was transgenderd I found new, or maybe hidden, feeling coming to the surface. I found myself wishing every night, and most of the day, that I would pass out and wake up female.
You know? It feels good to get that out, even if it is to a bunch of anonymous people on the internet. If anyone knows a good phycologist in Nottingham (England) can you please point me his/her way?
I'm also planning to get some fiction written up and posting it up here where it won't get swallowed up by the hordes such as on devart and might actually get some constructive comments.

Welcome
Welcome Altira, I too finally admitted to myself that I was transgendered after reading stories of Fiction Mania and Nifty. I have known I was born the wrong sex since I was a toddler, but tried to deny it. So you are not alone.

One of the things you have probably noticed as you visit this site is that some of us are thick skinned and some are not. Some of us have a great sense of humor (or is it humour), and some do not. Anyway, I'll send you a PM. Glad you are here.

If you live near Nottingham, then you should take a look at Maddy Bell's Gaby stories, they're set in Warsop, which isn't a million miles away.

And then...
...if you like those stories, you're daft enough, don't happen to be doing anything on the first weekend of September, and can leg it down to Dorset, there's the "GabyCon". Ostensibly a weekend for fans of the stories, you'd also get to meet a handful of the UK-based contingent of this site. Maddy, Angharad and Beverley Taff are regulars, and last year they were gracious enough to put up with me tagging along (as well as a few others)...

my story is backwards
Big Closet actually found me. When I was starting writing TG Fiction I had posted a few chapters of a little story caller "The Wishing Blanket" (Unfinished because the blue screen of death ate a whole chapter that I couldn't rekindle) on Fiction Mania. After the second post of that story, Erin sent me an email and invited me over to Big Closet. Back then it was a smaller community and I was building a friendship with Erin. I started my first story there "How Life Can Change" and liked the fact that there was a hit counter and more commenting.
As for being TG. Who knows? I was too busy trying to survive during my childhood to even care what gender I was. I didn't start imagining I was a girl until I was in the 5th grade.

I can't even begin to tell how I found this place - probably too long ago to remember the exact circumstances
They took me under their collective wing and I have written lots thanks to the encouragement of those who frequent this site.
I hope they will do the same for you.
I don't just look it, I'm totally gorgeous
And you need to write more, IMHO!
