Rapture

Once again, it's the Pelligrino Girls singing their Mega-Non-Hit, Rapture, from their latest CD...Oh Fuck...We Got Left Behind...Guess We Got THAT One Wrong!

* * *

here I am
with no one else to blame
selfish now
feeling so ashamed

thought I’d leave
sinners all behind
in the same boat with you
I got stuck here n’ missed the Rapture

here I am
what a sham
I’m no better than you
well I’ll be damned

heart to heart
sadly arrogant
and it's all consuming
righteous while presuming in Rapture

bible school said everybody’s a sinner
Made me think that I was a winner
sweet confession savin’ me
up to heaven one two three

I got found since I was lost
save my soul at any cost
preachin’ at the sinners made me feel good
drove everybody crazy in the neighborhood
representin’ Jesus was a real blast
even if it left my heart overcast

savin’ some soul feel he was much worse than me
missin’ the heart of god opportunity
here I am actin’ holier than thou
bein’ as pious as my mind would allow
everyone’s the same to me
don’t wanna be in their vicinity
don’t really care it’s all about me
don’t matter if me and god really don’t agree

I’ll go anywhere and tell them just how good I am
pretending to love them oh what a fucking shame
one on one, face to face
not heart to heart what a disgrace
can’t get too close and show I care
‘cause bein’ superficial is all I dare
face to face and mind to mind and eye to eye
my indifference was enuff to make god cry

rapture, be right
what a flight… takin’ in the sight
go n’ take a stand, lend a hand
see the need across the land
stay stuck, what the fuck
what the hell it’s just their dumb luck
go ahead and pass the buck

but maybe god’ll forgive me help me see
'stuck' here’s an opportunity bein' TG
maybe resume my membership with the human race
I can love them…show them...care for them
just act now oh wow
bein’ left behind is a sign should be sweet and kind
compassion is the real goldmine

Preaching To The Choir

Of course the people who should read this won't. Besides, it doesn't apply to them. I was waiting for the rapture, but had to go to the bathroom. When I was through, I checked the answering machine. There weren't any messages. I guess I missed it. I'll check the eleven o'clock news.

I'm damned! The earth didn't move for me last night. What must it feel like to wake up this morning, all disappointed?

You captured the zeitgeist, 'Drea. Don't let it go, 'cos your watch might be slow,

Joanne

I admit, I had half hoped...!

Hey,maybe I would be myself in heaven, instead of this monstrosity. Oh well! Wait-maybe it was 6PM Honolulu time? Still a chance, perhaps?

Blondie, that's it.

Saw the title and a bit of the song jumped into my head and sat there smirking. Took 10 minutes to finally think who did it. Must admit I struggle a bit with the rhythm of this one, it's a weird vocal line. But nicely done as ever Drea.

The religious rapture idea is an odd one to me, but hey, maybe next time huh. I wonder how many are relieved or depressed. Live while ya got it kids, won't last forever. Then we'll see... or not....

That was me when I was young...

It's hard to look up when you're on your high horse. It makes you look down on others. But God and life humble us all. Luckily I was humbled early and fell off that horse. Much easier to look up when you're on your knees!

A lesson in humility. Thank you for this, Andrea,

Ole
