My Birth Certificate, the last piece of paperwork needed, is in the hands of my lawyer. All that remains is for me to sign in all the right places, and then the filing of the paperwork and the setting of a court date. Then, the REAL work begins. Changing all my identity papers to my new name. LOL!
I'm excited...and scared, all at the same time. It seems like a lifetime ago that I decided to face the reality of who and what I am. I owe so much to so many, including all of you here, who have encouraged me, pushed me when I needed it, comforted and consoled me, and applauded every success I managed to make. I hope in some small measure I have returned every kindness, every ass kicking, every encouragement, and I Thank You ALL for your belief in me and your friendship.
My dream is slowly, but surely coming true. I hope and pray that every one of you can realize your dreams, your hopes, and overcome the hardships and hurdles placed in your paths, to achieve YOUR goals, whatever they might be. This is a wonderful place we have here at Top Shelf, and a precious support network for all of us.
Again, THANK YOU ALL, from my heart.
From soon to be, legally,
CATHERINE LINDA MICHEL... for the rest of my life.

...Pure...Pretty...who is like God? All lovely names by themselves, but put together and they comprise one of the nicest women I've had the pleasure of getting to know. I'm so happy for you!
Dio vi benedica tutti

Many of us have watched you as the changes have taken place. For me, it has been from the first time I heard of you in Prue's story 'Carversion' to meeting you first, online, then later, face to face.
Again, congratulations;
Holly
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Once again,
Differing state laws in different states of the USA cause Americans to lose their human rights. No government should have the right to force an individual to go to court to change his or her name. In the UK one only has to write out a deed poll declaration and submit it or present it to anybody in your life who is pertinent i.e. your doctor, your bank, your school, your employer. Even changing one's birth certificate name does not require legislative input.
