I don't know about the rest of you, but I just get frustrated when I read a chapter or two of a story posted as a continuing serial, or novel posted in chapters I get interested in it,... and the author some times takes weeks or even months to get the next one posted.
Or in some extreme cases they don't continue it at all!
I know that is kind of critical of me to say, but don't tease me and then not follow through. That's very frustrating.
So despite what I stated in my previous blog (Mistress Theory - about posting weekly) as soon as I get the editing done on enough words to full a decent sized page I will be posting it!
I'm thinking that nobody would object to this, if you do well,... what can I say other than blah blah blah - Raspberry
I have, like I said before about 96,000 words of this written (that's before editing and that adds even more to it) and I don't have and have not even thought of an ending yet!
- First there is no good way to end this other than killing everyone off. I did think of doing that at first but, I can't do it.
- Second there will obviously be loose ends that don't get to be tied off by killing everyone.
- Third there is so much material that could be written for the further adventures of the ship and especially Allyson and Lisele.
I will say that I am not trying to top anyone here or post more than say "easy as falling off a bike" who is like a typing machine or a telex it just keeps coming!
Once I get through these pages that I have already written I may slow down and move onto some of my other writing projects. but for now I'm going to pour it on until I get through all the chapters I have laid out.
Comments about this post (Good, Bad or Ugly) and my story are always welcome and I do read every one of them and most times answer back...so feel free this is, after all America.
Thanks for listening to my rant
Love and Hugs to you and yours,
Danielle

Guilty!
it has been a while since I tackled "The lucky One" My only excuse is that the silly mood required to work on it doesnt happen all the time for me. Which is why i want to actually finish my new Phoenix story before I post part 1.

the muse
Sometimes the Muse just isn't with us! but you see you haven't forgotten it completely and still check on it occasionally right? answer a comment or just see what a comment is.
Some people just drop them like a hot potato. You still care about your story I can tell.

I am weeks late on my story
I had intended to post a 40 K chapter of "Lt Katia" every three weeks but due to the Christmas season, a death in the family and sickness, I am more than twice that right now. It is hard and those who can be consistent like that have my deepest respect. Perhaps in the future, I should get it mostly written before I start posting?
Much peace

posting
you don't have to have the whole thing written out first. do an outline of it and then write some parts jumping around as things occur to you for inclusion in the story and then before you know it it will only need a little editing for continuity and bang you can post

I have learned a painful lesson.
Yes, that is what I had intended to do but somewhere along the way I lost mine.

Real life happens, Sweetie!
I'm currently editing someone else's story, and I finished my edit, only to lose everything to a power outage at an inauspiscious place. I thought autosave would protect me, but no! Not this time! Now I'm doing it all over again! AAAArgh!
We'll wait, hon-just keep it coming when you can!

I Don't Know How So Many Authors do It
I wouldn't have the chutzpah (probably misspelled) to start posting a story that I had no idea where it was going. I have added to two completed stories as an experiment, but both stand without the additions. In fact, I'll probably remove the additions as I am not sure they added much to the stories. I think the experiment failed. No, unless it is finished, I won't start posting. That's probably a sign of a brain that is not functioning very well. I visualize it as starting to drive across The Outback with no compass or GPS and a limited supply of petrol.

It's a common problem
I, like you, dislike it, but I'm getting used to it. Real life happens, sometimes, and authors either get caught up or lose interest in their stories. Not much we can do, and it can be very disappointing, I know. There are a few stories here that are so rich and inviting, and then they just drop off the map. It's a shame, and a big disappointment, but sometimes, life is a bitch.
When I wrote my series, Unexpected Attractions, my editor asked that I not post until the story was complete. I believe most authors do not follow this practice. I'm really not sure which way is better. The seies I'm posting on Fictioneer is complete, but I'm rewriting the last chapter, so I'm not exactly following my own "rule".
I'm currently also writing a sequel to U/A, and I'm not sure how I will post it. I'm thinking of writing several chapters ahead, and then keeping a buffer going in case I get a block. Both of my readers are very important to me! (Okay, so maybe it's not THAT bad!)
I love your series, Danielle! Keep it coming!
Wren
Oh good
I was one who really enjoyed 'Unexpected Attractions' and I just knew there was more that you would have followed with when you found the time.
That story begs to be followed!
I try to write to the Authors of my favorite stories and encourage them to continue them as well as inspire them to want to continue them! no Luck so far though.

I don't know how to respond to this
except to say I warned my readers that I wouldn't be posting every week with Assassin. I've posted it in parts that run around thirty to forty thousand words per part. I write when I can and try to write around a thousand words a day. Sometimes I can't because I have a life and it doesn't revolve around this site. Personally I don't like the pressure of writing and posting at the same time. It burns me out, but hooray for those that can. I'm currently writing part Seven of my story and have almost fifty thousand words written qnd I'm sure I'll have another ten thousand before that part is done. To be perfectly honest I don't like when another author takes swipes other writers becuase they should know better. If you want a story posted soon, you write it or send a PM to the party who's offending you. Sorry, but that's how I feel. I don't get paid for this nor do the other authors on this site and bitching about not posting in a timely manner just plain sucks, Arecee
Hooray for your answer, and thank you, too,
For not pointing out that sometimes an editor bogs things down due to her real life, and maybe some illness there/ Ooops, I guess I just pointed at myself.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Sorry Arecee
As I said it was a Rant and not specifically aimed at authors who still post chapters to their stories, but more for those that just abandon a good story.
And I do understand about having a life and needing to do other things that take up their time and energies. Illness being one of them. Real life can be like that and we all have to deal with it.
By the way I do enjoy your 'Assassin' story and you do post an great amount to read, finding the time to do that and balance everything else is challenging as well.

Mistress chapter posting
I too am guilty of not posting on ongoing stories that I have started, mainly due to my muse giving me others to post and reading stories posted here.

Mea Culpa!
Danielle,
I too have a series that the next chapter will be out "REAL SOON NOW." Of course it's been that way for a couple of years. I know where it's going (I couldn't say that 6 months ago), and I know how I'm going to get there. But with each chapter averaging about 16K words it's still a lot of typing.
I have not abandoned my Comdex series. I really hope It will be finished this year!
Still it has taken SOOOOoooooo long.
