My dad who will be 84 on March 25 underwent surgery Monday to have his right knee replaced. If all goes well he gets the other done this summer.
Between the bridgework -- courtesy of a rollover accident before I was conceived -- two artifical eye lenses and a cow valve in his heart there isn't alot left of the *original equipment*.
-- snicker --
Visited him last night with sis, The Evil BlondeTM, and he's doing well.
Not a real religious type but your prayers are welcome.

Right knee replaced?
With what?
A universal joint?
I think, in this most auspicious 21st century, you really should be saying upgraded.

I hope he's okay
Perhaps if you tell him some of your jokes, it would cheer him up, then again...

My very best to your Dad.
I hope he comes through this as hale and hearty as one might expect.

Visited him tonight and he seems much better
Dad said with the therapist and a walker he got out of bed and walked across a double hospital room, say fifteen or twenty feet but did not sit down as he cannot bend the new joint much for now. He still has the pain controller for his IV I think but he only used it once yestterday but then he is a tough old bast... guy. -- grin -- I told him if ANYTHING felt wrong press that dammed call button and raise hell. I was not having him grin and bear it if something was seriously wrong.
They have some sort of block in his leg to prevent him moving the knee too much but he can move his foot and rotate his leg just fine. They have some icing device that pumps cold water aound his knee to bring down the swelling. He says its way down frome yesterday and from what we could see he is right. they also have some pnuematic things on his feet, anti clot devices I am told.
Very chearful and his normal self other than still tired and F***Ing bored. We left him today's paper and a ball point, that should make the cross word a chalenge. Oh and his cordless shaver and some hard candies because his throat is still sore from the surgery.
Thanks for the kind words, gang.
