So, on the otherwise pleasantly uneventful trip to Iowa, I dropped my phone into coffee. It was really awful as a dipper. So, Cathy I am Ok but out of touch until I get home, inshallah, on the 29th. Beth, I did so want to read your story and will, I promise. Any one else, I did hope to get ch 3 of Lt Katia up but now it will wait. Sorry.
I cannot sort the phone out until after the 11th.
Merry Christmas to all. Ma Salaama to you also.

Did it...
As it was an awful dipper, how was it as a sweetener?
That is a new place for dropping one, at least to me. I've heard of many of the more normal: On the ground (& subsequent step on/drive over); in the sink; in the tub (including WITH someone in the tub. Gotta wonder about texting and bathing at the same time); in the toilet (*shudders* at the thought of recovering said phone...); and sundry other places. But, the coffee cup is a new one for me. (I've seen coffee cups spilled ON laptops and cell phones, but not the other way around.)
Best of luck on quickly getting re-connected. If it's going to be a while, you may be able to call your carrier to get "credit" for the period you don't have a phone.

If you can, pull the battery
If you can, pull the battery out, and go buy a bottle of 90% alcohol at a drugstore (about two bucks).
Flush the phone thoroughly with the alcohol, let it dry, then flush it again. Then try the battery again.
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
invited for coffee
I don't think that is what is anyone has in mind when inviting one over with the statement "do drop in"
my niece
thought shw would help out the other day, so she started a load of laundry she picked out of the grandsons bathroom. Unfortunately, she doesn't check pockets, and my 16 year old grandson still acts like he is 4 when it comes to carrying a wallet, ID, kets etc, much less empty the pockets. We found his cell phone in the bottom of the washer. The battery of course had the red bar of death showing. We laid the phone up for about 4 days, and I slipped my phone battery in. It worked fine. Took me an hour or so, but I found a replacement factory battery for half the cost of most sites with free shipping, and he hasd it in 4 days, US mail. 14 bucks, but cheaper than a new phone.
Khadijah musta dropped skype in her coffee too!
I KNEW there hadda be a reason why it's gone down! Just teasing, Khadijah.

SuperNodes and Sweeteners
Easy to confuse the two - she picked up what she thought was a sweetener but it turned out to be a SuperNode instead :)
Now we've just got to wait while the Skype team carefully pull the SuperNodes out of the drink and hang them over a radiator to dry out overnight...
