I think that now makes me an old git. if not an old git, then a grumpy old bastard :)
I never thought I'd get this far and if I hadn't stopped riding bikes and driving cars like a complete maniac, I probably wouldn't have.
That means that by rights, I should now live forever...
God help you all.
Nick

You know you're getting old when...
...a whole style of decorating is named for your decade of birth? Ever heard of
Happy Birthday!!!

Ah, Youth!
Oh to be young again, like you. Someone once said, probably Mark Twain, "It's a shame that youth is wasted on the young." That's probably a misquote, but you get the idea.

Hey, Nick!

Hi Nick
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 50 is not so bad and yes who would have thought all those years ago when you where a little baby you would make it this far
HUGS RICHIE2
Happy Birthday Nick, 50 is
Happy Birthday Nick, 50 is just the new 30 in this day and age. :) Jan
Adorable? Young? Hahahahahahaha!
Well, 'Drea, I wish I could share you sentiments on how I look, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so Pen MUST see something!!
Thanks to all that have responded, I'm just going to get spruced up for the evening. I have no idea what that will entail - the evening, not the sprucing bit that is...
Hugs and smiles
Nick.
I don't just look it, I'm totally adorable? Hah! I wish :)
OMG!!! All you youngsters who seem to object to
OMG!!! All you youngsters who seem to object to getting another year older!!! I mean, consider the only existing alternative to another birthday? A half century? Easy as falling off a log. Sadly, as we age, we are more likely to fall off the log, but "oh Well".
I used to look for cards that poked fun at my sister as she got older. But then she pointed out that no matter how old she got to be, I would always be 11 years older than she! Took the fun right out of it!! By the way, she was born on MY birthday. The nerve of her! LOL
HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Happy Birthday Nick
I can almost remember that far back. Keep going, you'll catch up sooner or later. Think of it this way.....it's another series of experiences to "season" your writing with.
If it makes you feel better
I turned 24 on Sunday myself! No, it's not old, but then again, I've always preferred to define young or old not by someone's physical age, but by their mental age. You're quick witted, intelligent, and have a good sense of humor about things. That makes you young in my book!
Melanie E.
It DID make me feel better
Growing old is mandatory - Growing up on the other hand...
If this was show jumping, I'd get four faults for a refusal to grow up :)
I don't just look it, I'm totally incapable of growing up.
Half Century
Some years ago for me. I tend to take a variation of Bev Taff's motto to heart: grown old disgracefully!
Happy birthday! Just think...you got to live through some of the best music ever*, when it was FRESH!
*er...and some of the worst, unfortunately
Half century? Somehow it feels longer
Hmmm...
The worst would be someone like Joe Dolce who wrote a song called 'Shut up-a you face' which kept Ultravox and Vienna off the top of the charts back in 1980 and that's just the first one that came to mind. Don't get me started on Rene and Renata or Peters and Lee...
I don't just look it, I'm totally going to lie about my age from now on :)
Ah
ga doo.....
Agadoo?
EEEEK!!!
I don't just look it, I'm like totally cringing here
Growin' old.
Well Nick many more of em!
Why have you given up biking? It's one of the best ways to go after aged about uuuuuhm 90ish or a 100.
Better than wasting away in some God-forsaken care home. Simply open the throttle, give it large then; - !Ooooh Shit! SPLAT!!! and hellooo-oo God, I've got a few bloody bones to pick with you!
Well at least you've lived through some decent music, like 'Dancing Queen'. Ooops my 64-year-old tranny slip is showing.
Happy Birthday Nick.
Love and hugs.
Beverly.
Growing old disgracefully.
Growing old disgracefully
I didn't even grow young gracefully!!!
I don't just look it, I'm totally disgraceful...
Nope
At that age, you're still YOUNG... (Unless you insist on being old... In which case, why not go ahead and dig the hole...)
Congrats on a new milestone... Now go for the century mark. :-)
Anne
No insistence here Annette
I'm not insisting I grow old at all. It just seems to be happening.
Not sure I like the hair colour that comes with this age group though, so I continue to deny that I'm getting older at all - except in numbers.
I know what I mean and that's the important thing.
I don't just look it, I'm totally losing my marbles
Hair colour
Don't worry about hair colour - that's one of the easiest things to fix. I'm going for a roots touch-up after lunch today, as it happens.
The big problem comes when there isn't any hair left to re-tint...

T-minus three and counting
Fifty, HAH!
In three days I turn 53.
But emotionally I'm stuck at 13 though my sister, the original Evil BlondeTM would claim I am considerably younger than that.

Which surprise was that, Karen?
First I'd like to take the opportunity to wish John a happy birthday - even though I'm a day early. So Happy birthday, John. However, I beat you hands down on the 'considerably younger' bit as I don't think I've actually hit double figures yet - mentally that is.
With regards to surprises, I get a lot of that at the moment. We seem to have entered a phase where there's a lot happening and much of it is unexpected.
So just which unexpected aspect am I missing out on now?
I don't just look it, I'm totally childish
A lot happening
"We seem to have entered a phase where there's a lot happening and much of it is unexpected."
Ouch. Isn't that one of the signs of Alzhiemer's?
Penny
Lots happening
Can't remember
I don't just look it, I'm totally... um... where was I?
In that case...
Happy birthday John!

Happy Birthday John!
Tell Joanie I said "Hi."
growing past memory
We went to the local Cracker Barrel rest. for supper tonight after being out spending some money. My wife lost most of her memory after her stroke, and the 16 year old was with us. They delight in looking over the selection of old TV series and movies they offer for sale. I was able to tell them all about that stuff cause I saw them when they were new, or in re-runs, cause we didn't have TV when I was young, and that was here in Indiana, not down home in Kentucky, where my Mom's family still didn't have electricity in the home, even when I was old enough to help with the chores and go out an chop tobacco in season. I still remember when the General store at the crossroads got the first telephone on a party line. Of course, sunshine was two days late getting that far back into the hills where she was from.
Ah yes, I remember it well
Well not exactly, but I do know what you mean.
Until recently, we used to have to watch NCIS on Saturday and not the billed Friday as our TV took so long to warm up...
I don't just look it, I'm totally missing the point
Happy Birthday!
I'm right behind you in the 'grumpy old fart' race -- just a bit over two months.
It Must Be The Alzheimers
Al who? Well, a very belated Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year all rolled into one you young snipperwhapper, you!
(My excuse is that I've been away for nearly three weeks and almost completely sans computer)
Joanne
Fear not Jo...
I've been just as busy, although I HAVE had a computer.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and all that guff
I don't just look it, I've totally had almost enough face lifts to give me a red goatee
