slipping up

I seem to be consciously and unconsciously trying to out myself. Yesterday, I was playing Wii with my daughter when she realized my character's name, and asked "Dorothy?" I just passed it off as just the name of my character, and she accepted that. I keep this up and I will be out long before I am ready.

I'd die if someone who

I'd die if someone who didn't know about me saw my XBox Live avatar ;-)

(Don't mind the Bratz! Midnight Dance wallpaper in the background ;-))

*hug* I know exactly how you feel though. I think as we become more comfortable with ourselves we start to sub-consciously slip like that. Like I have two pairs of heels under the edge of my bed right now, where a year ago? I would've had them buried deep under three winter coats :-)

It's probably a silly example, but you get the idea :-)

That's not uncommon

Subconscious (or even conscious) activities that could lead to outing yourself are not uncommon. (My shrink has assured me that I'm not alone in this...)

I actually have to be careful to NOT out myself more lately, as I move closer (at a crawl) to transitioning. At least a half dozen times, I caught myself signing a work e-mail Annette, or Anne. (I actually did sign ONE as Annette, but it seems like the client didn't notice. (I "think" I was lucky... There ARE times I wish I were "outed" So that would be done, but I know that doing it smoothly is safer.)

Good Luck,
Anne

I've done that before.

I've done that before. Only, in my case, I had already changed my name but almost signed Saless instead of my RL name! ;)

Oh, THAT I've done, Saless!

... One time I was filling out an application over the phone for a bank loan. Instead of giving the woman my social security number, I accidentally started rattling off my ICQ instant messenger contact number. :-P

Not sure if ICQ's changed now as I haven't used it in years, but my SS# and ICQ# were so similar that I only realized my mistake after I ran out of numbers >_>

She thought it was hilarious :-P

Ready or Not?

Such mistakes just shows how real the "new" identity is for you. The "process" might have run faster than you ever thought. I think you need to sit down and schedule your final change. If not a day by day schedule, but at least what might be needed to do month by month. Should some of the items be fixed earlier , just take one out of the following months. Your subconsciousness has talked and that is something that you canot fly from.
Good luck

Your earlier question need a little more thought from me, but will be answered.

at the hugeness of the Hints you'll drop without anyone actually getting it. Yes, it does seem to be a subconscious urge, and it is you trying to tell yourself something, but the shocking *denseness* of people for not getting it themselves mean you will still, at some point, have to actually bite the bullet and deliberately tell them. :-)
