Suddenly yesterday, I lost all the hearing in my left ear. There is a tiny bit left but it sounds like speaker does when the cone is torn. I did not hit my head or anything. I have been wearing a hearing aid in that ear for quite some time. There is a problem in my right ear, but I can not tolerate a hearing aid there. To top it off, there is another kind I can use in the right ear but I will not be able to use my Hijab, and that is a big deal to me.

cohclear implant
You sound like a perfect candidate for the implant for the deaf. It works for Rush Limbaugh.

It is a long road ahead but I will finally become who I should be.

yeah, it might work, but it not even close to a high percentage of success, and you would lose any hearing that might be left, there. I also have loss of hearing and sympathize. I once lost the hearing in an ear, but it came back in a very short time. I never had time to go to a doc about it, and there was no reason why it left, or returned. It might be something as simple as a blockage in the canal that you can't feel, and of course, can't see. The canal does make a turn, and it may not be visible from the surface in something just trying to look in.It could be something as simple as a bubble of water on the drim, or a piece of wax. Hope it is nothing more serious for you. It's no fun.
I hope it can be recovered!
Gwen, there is a whole world of stuff I know nothing about (my friends would never believe I said that, so, shhh! Don't tell 'em!)and part of that is hearing loss. I hope this is only temporary, but think about all the concerts you can go to and not care how bad they are! Oh, I don't know, just want to make you feel better. I'm praying for you!
