What is wrong with people

I have lost a notebook filled with many story ideas, as well as notes on some that I have started working on. Some I had hoped to finish and post here. But nooooooo. Someone had to take it last night while I was asleep. But that’s not all they took. They took my car that it was in.

This is the first, and hopefully last, time I have ever had this happen. My wife opened the front door to our apartment this morning and saw an empty space next to my work van, where our car is always parked. She woke me up asking if I had moved it on her as a joke. I wish that where true. So the police where called, and the Insurance company, who by the way will get back to us on Monday.

I had always joked that I hoped someone would take it because it was falling apart. But when it actually happens. Well that’s a different.

What’s sad is that I had thought we lived in a safe enough area. There are two police officers that live in the complex, and on top of that, a park is all that separates the apartments from the police station.

Guess it just goes to show, it doesn’t matter at all.

So now, we have no car, and the thieves have my notebook, which will give them something to read.

I'm going to make an assumption here (and probably make an 'ass' out of myself) but I'll guess that your car simply went for a joyride last night. And with some luck the police 'may' find it dumped somewhere still intact with most of the contents undisturbed. Last night was Saturday night and it was probably raining drunks out there.

Hugs and good wishes.

Depends where she lives...

Over here in the UK, it's sadly common for the teens to dump the car somewhere and set it alight once they've finished with it - presumably partly for the thrill, partly to destroy any forensic evidence (not that forensic evidence would necessarily to them much harm - they'd probably get away with a caution). I hope for your sake it's more common for cars to be just dumped intact where you live.

As for the laptop, a lot depends on how old it is and what information (other than story ideas) you have on there. If you've used it for online banking or online purchases and have let your browser save login details, it would be a very good idea to change the passwords to those sites asap, just in case the teens are "clued up".

It wasn't

that type of notebook thankfully. Just a cheap paper notebook from wal-mart. The only thing of value in the car was my son's car seat. I have a feeling that it's already been striped for parts, and dumped somewhere.

Oh dear,

sorry to hear about your bad luck. Obviously your car didn't have an alarm or immobiliser. Mine won't start unless the key is near by, but then electronics bring their own problems. Give me a bicycle any day.
