Son of Fred Phelps

It is ironic that his son is a devout atheist, but not that surprising considering what his father put him through. Fred Sr. may think he speaks for God, but I think he is the Devil Incarnate. He is also on the opposite side of his father on Gays. I also thought of another famous parent/child on opposite sides of the religious fence. Madeline Murray O'Hare, the woman who successfully argued for Separation of Church and State, was a devout Atheist, but her son became a Preacher. Just goes to prove that extremist views on either side can cause children to do the opposite of what their parents do. I have always heard people talk about Preacher's kids. A lot of them go through rebellion against their upbringing quite often.

For a while I have had a fantasy list of things to do to set the world right in my eyes, if I found I had a terminal disease. Fred has been on that list for some time. So, now we find that Fred is just another Father caught up in denial and self pity at his son's honesty?

I will say that my own step father's drunken quotations of the Bible kept me off it until I was 28, and the prospect of raising my children began to terrify me.

Many of the most rabid gay haters have later been exposed as closet queens, so it seems safest to suppose that they all are, or are trying to find someone to blame -- other than themselves -- for "driving" their children / spouse / self to homosexuality. Their mantra seems to be, "It's not my fault that..." A) I was caught shagging the poolboy; or B) My children are gay/hate me/think I'm an idiot; or C) ...am a serial rapist and/or wife beater and/or child molester... but it's not my fault; or D) Once liked to bang the family mule, but everybody does that, don't they?

These guys are sick puppies one and all, and many are also mendacious con artists who use the ignorance and hatred of others to whip up money for themselves. Fred Phelps makes a tidy living for himself. So did Hitler, as long as it lasted...
