Battered, but back

Back in April I had the chance to spend a week at my friends' condo at the beach. They had planned on going for Spring Break as usual, but something came up and they had to change their plans, so they told me to go and enjoy myself, which I did. Then the Monday after I got back I went out for a jog, and woke up the next day in the hospital.

I was pretty doped up and still hurt all over, which was not surprising since I was told I had been struck by a car. I had multiple fractures to both legs, my right arm was fractured near the wrist and the left a little closer to the elbow, and of course I had a multitude of abrasions and bruises. Fortunately I had no serious internal injuries or head trauma, though I did suffer a concussion and have absolutely no memory of the event. It was a hit and run, and as of this date no one has been arrested. Apparently there were no witnesses to my being struck, and I was extremely fortunate that a neighbor on her way home that evening saw me lying on the side of the road, otherwise I could have been there all night.

I've been checking in here on occasion, and now that I have gotten the casts off my arms I can finally type. The legs are going to take a good bit longer, but I am on the mend and am told my prospects for a complete recovery are excellent. It will be quite some time before I go jogging again, but considering the heat we're experiencing right now I don't think I'll be that broken up over it. At least I should have plenty of time to work on long overdue writing projects.
