Somewhere Between Purgatory And Hell

The world that you know is a cruel one.
It is full of pain and despair and hope.

I listen for that is what I do.
Tell me your tales so that I may forget them.
I will tell you what you want to hear.
Then I will tell you the truth.

The truth shall hurt you as it hurts us all.
Hurt tells us we are alive and whole.
That feeling of euphoria is but an illusion of pixels.
Pixels of fantasies and electronic adrenaline.

This used to be my playground.
I don't recognize it anymore.
It but an empty and deserted place now.

The eerie squeak of the swing's chains
Are counter point to the thumping rhythm
That the seesaw makes from the desolate winds.

The world is not as I remember it.
It is changed forever more.
Yet the dark fires still burn.

My Journey is far from over,
However, I'm quite a ways from where I started.
I can hardly see where I began anymore.

My playground this may no longer be.
This world I may no longer recognize.
Upon this Journey I have long been.

The journey my life had become.
This long trek led me to this place
Where I stand gazing upon my old playground.

Many would say I am at journeys end.
All these years after that cutting blow,
I stand with more questions than I started with.

The hardest of all questions really is at the top.
It's probably a long list, but is it?
When I started, wasn't it that one question?
No. Not that one.
The other one.

The one that connects us ALL.
I'm not talking about the ones at my old playground.
I mean the ones that I fear.
The ones I want to embrace.
The people I want to be like.
The animals I would love to hate.
The nightmares that I may wake up screaming to.
The angels that I will shed tears over.

The Human Beings that are in the world around us that we are growing closer to in the world we currently live in yet are losing touch with everyday more and more until we are no longer real people.

The simple question in which I find myself in despair.
It's not about gender.
Hmmph. That was easy to figure out and correct.
It's the harder one.

You have written....

...a thught provoking verse. It brings to mind something B. Corgan wrote years ago. I would like to share it with you.

'The world is a vampire, sent to drain. Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames. And what do I get for my pain? Betrayed desires, and a piece of the game."

I would guess that where we would like to be is somewhere between a secure place of safety and the realities the world offers. I think from time to time we all ask the same question; Who am I. The trick is to follow up with...'and what do I do about it?' There's always a catch.

Mea the Magnificent

who am I?

thats the question. I hope you find an answer you can live with. This is a powerful piece. Hugs from your "sister", Dorothy
