I just got my 60 day notice to, "TERMINATE TENANCY"
Not because I can't pay rent, it is always paid on time and in full.
I talked to the property management co. and they had know idea why I was served the notice either.
The property owner did it. From what I gather he (the owner) wants us out of here so he can move in more of his friends!
So we have 60 days to find a place to live now, and finding one that I can afford is going to be very hard!
OH well I saw it coming we are the last family living here in this complex sense he bought it.
I wonder if I could get him for discrimination? He has moved all of his Jehovah witness friends in here (I'm not} and they are all Mexican too! (I'm not).
Kathy my better half has her Far-northern worker helping us in finding a place.
I just hope its "not" off a bus route, don't have a car anymore :( and that they will allow a cat.
We had to put Athena down after 10 years of being my 70 pound lapdog her arthritis was putting her into too much pain. (I miss her).
Its been a crappy year so far, Kathy lost her dad Cancer, Kathy has been in the hospital more days this year then at home. I had to give up Athena, still no car, I'm not getting any better and may be wheelchair bound myself soon, Kathy gets her's next month!
What a drag it is getting OLD!
Well it was fun while it lasted!

Scream Like a Stuck Pig!
I would. You have enough going for you, depending on how public you are, to sue the gold fillings out of the cheap bastard's teeth. I would do it if for no other reason that I am a combat Irish-Welsh sod like my Da with a Dutch-German stubborn streak, thanks to my Mom's side of the family.
No, seriously. Depending on where you live, I am sure you can find a legal aid organization that would just love to show it's tolerance for a poor, down trodden waif such as yourself. Big town lib lawyers love that sort of stuff.

Note: If your pup were yellowish-white, he'd look like my Arnold, who is a 61 pound lap dog.

You're in California, right?
If you are retired or disabled your tenant rights are quite strong. Basically, he can ask you to leave for only a few specified reasons in the law. It is probably a good idea to get some legal advice if you really would rather stay where you are.
Take care of yourself.

California Tenant Law
If you indeed live in California, check out this website:
http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp/other/landtenqa-gen.htm
Look at the FAQs for Evictions Questions & Answers: General Information particularly those for ending a tenancy. Tenants cannot be asked to leave arbitrarily.
Is it Rent Controlled?
Unfortunately, from reading the page you gave.... Unless the property is Rent-Controlled, this bit seems like it could be used arbitrarily by the landlord...
But then again, I'm no lawyer...
I hope you find a place Chris, that has everything you need, for a price you can afford, and maybe even turns out to be better than the place you are being made to leave.

ONLY IF YOU GIVE IN! By LAW, he MUST give a valid reason! You can enlist the local media on it, too! Public support can help.

Some of them have housing help on staff, and access to lists, at least, where one can find legal advice.

This assumes that you're in California, but there are similar organisations all across the USA and Canada.

I just think you Gals in the USA are fantastic!
Giving ChrisW advice and contact info - I was most impressed - I wonder how many other Nations would do the same - I believe most TG bonded people would - there is a common thread here - compassion, I know it's called!

ChrisW, Now why would I
ChrisW,
Now why would I believe that you have a case of reverse discrimination that could be filed against your current landlord. Two facts show in your comments. a)you apparently are not hispanic and he and his friends are. b) your particular faith is not his faith and thereby, he is discriminating against you on a faith basis. As I understand the equal housing laws, and here I will state I AM NOT an attorney, no-one can be discriminated against based on gender, religious, race issues, ethnic basis; and I am sure there are several others mentioned, if researched. Even if you don't decide to remain there, I would most definitely seek out an attorney and see what legal action you can take against this person as it may be a way to have your moving expenses paid by him; and help another later if they run into the same situation with this person. That is what we are all put on this earth to do and that is help one another. Hugs, Jan
