What, you're still here?! Oh, I guess I have to say something then...
Hmm...well, first of all, I want to apologize for disappearing for a month without saying anything. I always hate it when an author I like does that (partially because of the lack of stories, but mostly because I worry they got hurt or something), and here I did it anyway! :(
While I had some legitimate excuses, the bulk of the reason for my absence is guilt over not posting anything for a month (Which is now two months, argh!), and being depressed. I'd thought I had gotten over that for a while, but it was just a matter of getting used to it, I think. Kind of like having a backpack on that's stuffed full of rocks. It feels like it's going to pull you to the ground at first, but then you get used to it. After that you hardly even notice it's there, most of the time.
So now I'm having trouble staying awake during the day, no matter how much sleep I get, again/still! And then I have fun episodes like on Sunday. I was at SacAnime, an anime convention in Sacramento. I had a great time on Friday and Saturday, but I was crying on the way over on Sunday for no particular reason. Then I was okay for a while, but I ended up spending the last two or three hours of the convention hiding in the darkened anime viewing room! Got to see some great new anime, though...
As for my stories, it looks like they're all still on hold. I'm currently on safari, hunting down a most elusive prey...my muse! ;) She's got the advantage since she can fly (Naturally my muse has wings), but I'll get her eventually!
One of the other reasons I was offline for a while was computer and internet problems. First my keyboard died, and then I lost internet access! My own DSL had been out of commission for a while, so I'd been using my Dad's. But then his went down. Which was kind of a good thing, because it gave me an idea on how to get mine working again. So now my DSL is back online, and blazing fast...during the day. But it's slower than molasses at night! I've had speeds of 275 kbps (average) downloading large files during the day, but at night it fluctuates from 0.2 (Yes, I really mean 0.2 kbps!) all the way up to 500! Mostly it stays down around 2 kbps. I have no idea why. If anyone here does, please enlighten me!!
Anyway, sorry for pulling my turtle bit. I can't promise I won't do it again, but I'll try not to. I'm really hoping my muse hunt will have results soonish, but I have no idea when that will be.
I hope you all had happy holidays and are having a good new year!

Connection Speed Thoughts
You comment on connection speeds but once you give it a bit of thought, it seems quite easy to see the situation; at least to me.
Evening is the time when most people are home and requesting downloads from the system that has a server of a given size. More requests means the through put of the server is being divided into smaller chunks for each requester that equates to a slower speed for the down load. When the load lightens the speed increases and when it is very light the speed is at its max.
Hope this helps.
I had that thought, too. It
I had that thought, too. It just doesn't seem like it should slow down that much every night! If that is the problem, than it probably means my ISP needs to get more servers or something. Then again it could be the phone lines, since my father is having the same problem now and he has a different ISP.
Thanks for the info, you said it much more clearly than I've been able to!

Oooh, I have an idea!
Ask Cat for help! She is blazingly fast, a natural hunter, and she has wings, too! ^_^
And while I'm at it, here's a hug!
I'm sooo glad you're back!
