Either Bob or I, or both, will be in the BigCloset/Stardust chat room this Tuesday evening, November 7, 2006. Planned topic is the future of TG websites. We'll probably schedule another one for Sat or Sun next weekend for people who couldn't be at this one, like most people in Britain and Europe.
Hope to see you there! Here's the link to the chatroom if you can't find it in the top menu: BigCloset/Stardust Chat. It's Java-based chat so you need to have Java turned on in your browser or use an IRC client per the instructions there.
Hugs,
Erin
NOTE: Specs for IRC type chat clients are on the page that comes up when you click on the link above. This chat session will be held in the Main Room.

What's the time difference ...
... am I right in saying EST (ie east coast USA?) is 5 hours behind GMT? Just slightly puzzled because I'm guessing the P in PST is for Pacific which I guess is more than 1 hour different - more like 3?
Geoff
Weighing Time
I think Westcoast USA (PST) is 8 hours behind London and 17 hours behind Sydney. Or somethng close to that. The US does nearly-national timezone changes twice a year but I don't know if other areas schedule such things.
BTW - more than 50% of BC readers are in the Eastern Time Zone of North America, with 15-20% each in Central or Pacific timezones, NA. Then about 5% in Mountain time, NA, ~6-8% in London time and the remaining ~5% scattered around the world, about half in Eastern Australia. :)

Bob has been working on the config this morning and has a good handle on things now; should be more stable than it was for last few minutes. :) A few of us were having a discussion of editing and ongoing writing earlier.
I'll probably be on and off all day. :)

misprinted time for nov 7th?
if its 8 -10 pm eastern time should it not be 5-7 pm pacific time? its -3 hrs from eastern to pacific.
Times are correct
It's an "and" in between, meaning Bob will be there for the first period and me for the second, that's why EST for Bob's half and PST for mine.

Guess I started/restarted something?
Or not, either way it's happening...:)
Questions?
Anybody have any questions or topics they want to be sure we cover in chat tomorrow? Even if you're not goingto be there, you can leave a query on this thread or in my PM.
One thing we're going to be discussing is the future of BigCloset and Stardust and how to be sure that everybody's efforts are continued and supported. But we could talk about other stuff, too.

I'm in the chat room now, trying out various pieces of software. :)
Pop in and say hi if you like, though I don't promise I'll be paying full attention every minute.

I'm in the Conservatory
trying out the candlestick with Colonel Mustard. Here's a Clue; he will have my full attention.

I always fancied (being?) Miss Scarlet ...
... and the spanner (US = wrench). She was always known as spanner face, because when men looked at her their nuts tightened up. Was too fussy about the room, but the Library always seemed more ... private than the Conservatory.

Kink-ee
What are you doing with that candlestick? Are they supposed to go there?

Hey, what did everyone think of the chat?
I came in late and it was fun.
Lots of silly stuff but useful info too.
And how else would I have learned so many of you are Weird Al fans?

Interesting
Chat was interesting but way beyond what I know about servers and web hosting. Still it was fun and I was only threatened once so it was a good night all around. Oh, I do think in future refreshments should be served. :)

I called in early ...
... but, due to the time difference, didn't stay for the chat. Will it published so that we Yurpeons can read what went on (or off?)

A couple of comments
Why are the nicks of the people chatting not showing up by their lines? It make it very hard to keep track of what's going on.
Also you might want to edit this log a bit there's some stuff that I dobut Bob Arnold wants posted on the net.
Nicks
The nicks were in angle brackets, invisible in HTML. I fixed.
