Standing Up to Life
by Tiffany Shar |
Synopsis
Brandon is a bright boy growing up near Albuquerque, New Mexico. He likes school, soccer, computer games, and playing in the school band. Small for his age and youngest in his class, his size has made him the target of every school bully for years. Each year the verbal and physical abuse increases, finally wearing him down to the point he doesn't know if he can continue. Just as he reaches the end of his rope, he is suddenly befriended by a classmate he least expected. As their friendship grows and deepens, Brandon learns the value of a best friend and finds himself moving down a road he never expected. Over the course of the school year, his friend helps him discover and cope with his feelings, hopes, dreams - and fears.
This is the story of a young person's unusual journey to stand up to the numerous obstacles that life has dealt him - and to become the person he believes himself to be.

I'm kind of glad I decided to repost this story
I did not read it while I reformatted all 14 chapters. The process took 3 hrs to do it all - even with copying & pasting the 2 templates I designed and the almost hundred previews I did changing things until I got everything the way I liked it. I then took the time yesterday to reread all of the first book. It is a very special story and one I can definitely connect with. Tiffany wrote a very compelling story, very intriguing and from the child's point of view and I certainly think of it as time well spent reading it.
I think Tiffany's style is fresh and different and well worth the read if you have just come here and not read this before. It's a real treat.

I have been a fan of
I have been a fan of Tiffany's work since she started writing. While I have seen some people criticize her for the super extraordinary abilities of the main character, which some have also said is really a Mary Sue, I find that when a child is happy and doing what they want to do, living the life they enjoy, extraordinary abilities come easily.
But not all is easy for our heroine, throughout the entire series, she faces bigotry and challenges of who she is. It's like reading about someone's life.
This is an extraordinary series, I highly recommend that it be read, one part at a time.
