Kudos and Hits

People may know that I also post on another site, where I get a lot of reads but they have nothing like "kudos" to assess how people receive what I write. I only have comments to go on, and those are usually positive but sometimes not. Comments are no real guide.
I was recently drawn to look at "hits" and to try to understand why there is a variation. I would seem that kudos depends on hits so as a general rule I tell myself that over 5% kudos by hits is a pass mark. Significantly more than 5% shows true appreciation.

My Anti-Semitic Story

I am pleased to see that BCTS readers accepted my story “Discharged – Female” for what it was – A harrowing work of fiction firmly based on researched fact bringing to light appalling injustices done to gay people during South Africa’s apartheid regime. Some on Fictionmania saw it as something very different.

Fact more disgusting than fiction

I have just posted a story based on fact entitled "Discharged - Female"

I had heard about these forced sex changes in South Africa and so I researched it a little and discovered more about the whole horrific thing, and that the number of mutilated victims was larger than I thought. Some stories have been told but many more have been buried. I did not access the findings of the "Truth and Reconciliation Commission" but I do understand the reasons why the post-apartheid government would want to bury the sins of the past in a bid to move forward as a mixed society.

Forces of Romance, by Maryanne Peters

41iacydaseL.jpg
Attached is a link to me latest collection on Amazon, which is a collection of stories based on change of sex by force. Perhaps curiously for a writer of TG fiction, I have not written much in the sub-genre, so I surprised myself that I had enough for a novel length volume of 19 stories (63,300 words). Please follow the link and take a look.

Google Services

I have chosen an oxymoron as the title to this blog.
I mentioned my problem in a note to the story I posted today ....
I have been shut out of my gmail account and I have lost contact with everybody except people I am in touch with over discord.
Does anybody know how I can get my gmail back? A "verify that you are really you" message came up giving the only option as my back email, which now has a 2 step verification using the gmail I can't access. It is driving me nuts.

A Shout Out for Ridgewick

Today I have posted the story “The News”, or it could be the “The News from Ridgewick” which I wrote at the urging of Tracy Lane. In this story I was the reporter trying to get my head around “The Ridgewick Phenomenon”, with a view to picking up on other stories exploring the consequences of Toxically Induced Sexual Morphism (see Transfiction Wiki – link is on your screen above - second line second from the left).

Not all Stories have such Structure

Here is one for my writing pals, from something posted on FM MB, probably to scold me for writing pieces that do not conform.
Structure of a Story.jpg
Well, what I did there was "Fiction" rather than "a story", but it occurs to me that very little of what I write conforms with this pattern.

Comments, No Comments

Call me a praise slut if you like, but I live for comments.
I am even happy to receive harsh criticism, like I get over on Fictionmania!
The latest hater has at least shifted his acid throwing to Message Board over there, but they seem to be a driven individual!
I am just assuming that everybody here at my warm and friendly place, must be overcome by heatstroke with barely enough energy to read my stories but too exhausted to comment (?)

Amazon Categories

What is up with Amazon? Why can't they get my books into the right category?
I posted something on the FM message board today by way of a gripe and it forced me to look at the last 7 of the 13 books published by Doppler Press on Amazon and none of those are classed as Transgender Fiction!
Here is what I posted over there:

Mind and Body - Book 13 at last!

41E-SiJYApL.jpg
Here it is, book 13!
This time a collection of stories based on body change or mind manipulation to throw the subject into gender disarray.
This book includes several that has not been published on open sites before, including "Genetic Reconstruction", "Surrogate" and "Vengeance" which I am sure will excite readers.
I have already told Doppler there may be another collection along these lines, possibly next year.

Dad's Style

For anybody who read this story straight after it was posted, I am sorry that the images did not come out. Please open it again.
I attached a pdf file in desperation, but I am grateful that with Rose's help, it is now up as I intended, with images in the text that inspired and really make this story.

The Great Unfinished Novel

An online friend wrote me: “I'd like to share a response I received from another FM authoress, who has the nasty habit of posting multi chapter stories, and leaving them unfinished. I've rebuked her for this habit in reviews before, and this is the first time that she has responded.”

The F Word

I posted my story "Immune Response" on Fictionmania yesterday.
I received a bunch of reviews / comments.
This one pleased me:
"Reviewed by Kirafair on 05/16/2022
"In case anyone is curious and since Maryanne put in a nice description at the beginning, an immune response to your own body components is an autoimmune type response and not technically an allergy. There could be some overlap in the observable aspects of the immune reaction that can lead to using the terms interchangeably

My 12th Book Just Published

I have now published my twelfth anthology of short stories on Amazon having published my first just a year ago. This is a series of books that my publisher has called “Mainly Happy Endings” because people who read me will know that I like my TG tales to be real and uplifting. Each book has its own themes and each book contains stories that have not been published online – other than as work-in-progress on my Patreon. 12 books and 192 stories in total.

The Sport of Romance ...

Yes, another anthology of my stories out on Amazon!
Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WLFWVNC
This picks up on some recent discussion on transgender sportspeople in the news, but my stories are strictly for entertainment and hopefully to pull a little on the heartstrings.

Artistic Cyber-Skills

I am looking to publish another book on Amazon later this month which is a collection of my historical character based stories. Covers for my other books (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093BH5CHM?ref_=dbs_p_pwh_...) are attractive images on theme, but for this next book I have been toying with a cover that will be a collage of some of the characters in the book. The problem is that I have no idea what I am doing, as my attempt below will show!

Amazon a party to criminal copyright infringement?

As a published author on Amazon I find myself troubled that it is so easy for people to blatantly infringe copyright using the Amazon Platform.
As a publisher Amazon has a vested interest in protecting copyright, yet there is almost no way of raising the issue of copyright infringement.
Over on Fictionmania Message Board recent exchange started like this:

The Big C

I have published just a very short piece of whimsy today, from some of my older material which really ought to be up here as BC is my true home.

I have to confess that I have written nothing for a few weeks. I received the results of some tests last month and last week I was rushed into hospital for the removal of a large chunk of me. I am slowly recovering from that.

Lucy - A True Story

I am a bit surprised that there have been no comments on my recent story "Lucy".
I rushed a bit to publish this because when I was looking for images I discovered that there was that YouTube video and reference to the TV short, neither of which I knew about when I wrote this. I had assumed that this was a largely a forgotten piece of American history that had been excluded for inappropriate content ... but it is a great story. I hope that the TV item will be a dramatization of her speech to the court of which I have included a fragment.

Plagiarism Allegations Again!

Does anybody out there know a person with the handle Jdunn58? This person has recently filed a review of a book I published on Amazon and has clearly not read it.
"Just childish writing" ... OK. That's opinion. I can live with that.
"I know this author from Fictionmania...Never have you heard any one author toot their own horn about their work" ... OK. Probably not accurate, but I am not offended.
"...most every idea is taken from someone else" Hang on a minute. Which ideas? Which someone?
