I'm doing my music homework which involves listening to drums and writing down the rhythms. The dog thinks someone is at the door. :) I'm going to have to use headphones. :)

Sounds like fun. I don't want to think how my two would react to that. I have enough trouble with ads where there's a doorbell. Not to mention Nature doco's with wolves howling. Oh dear. Must be genetic memory or something. Happy counting.

and the people next door still think I'm out there chopping wood. They must be mental thinking I can chop that fast :)
Curious--even electronic drums make a hell of a racket (I have a little Yamaha DTII Express kit).
I'm alright with triplets, paradiddles and flams, but I still have a few problems with the Moeller method. I don't get the bounce off the pads I'd like and using carbon fibre sticks--which as expensive as they were, don't give the response I'd like, but they are almost bomb proof--by Christ they need to be at $30 a pair.
Still, for banging out a bit of Rainbow or Whitesnake or G'n'R, they're fine. I just need to practice more...

Music Practice and Pets...
Our dog is very curious, when it comes to clarinet/oboe sounds, and sticks her nose in the bell to sniff... Oooo the surprised jump, when the instrument makes a sound. She also likes to sing with the other girls in the house that are capable of singing on key (Spouse & daughters). Sadly, she does better than I do, I think.
Interestingly, she has no curiosity at all about the french horn the youngest is learning to play. Nor did she have any interest in the piano. Go figure. I guess even our pets have opinions on music. (Of course they do.)

Dogs can hear very high pitched sounds, I suspect that the woodwinds make some such noise that intrigues your dog. Mine ignores the piano unless I play a descending major third, C# to A above middle C. With the right rhythm, it sounds like the doorbell. :)
