So it finally arrived

My court date finally arrived.

It was very scary, but I had a wonderful lawyer who really made it all happen. The judge was so very thorough though that I was frightened the entire time she was looking to find something to deny it. Turns out she is more of an ally. At the end, she explained that she was making sure that everything was done properly to prevent our Attorney General from being able to say it was done improperly.

So now I am legally Miss Cassandra Ellen Nicol.

I think the most exciting thing was to see the F on my temp license. It really did not seem real until that moment. The most disappointing thing was being told that I could not change my medical records until I brought in the new insurance card. I'm hoping it does not take too long, but already, I have to go back in with my old name to get some more things taken care of. Next step, getting a passport.

For those who have not see it, check out the SS Form. It contains the properly formatted letter needed by SS and to get a passport. That letter was also accepted by my judge, but I gather it may vary from state to state. Or in TX, judge to judge.

On a lighter note, as of the same day, I am now officially engaged. My fiance and I plan to go to New Mexico in April to get married and we are both very excited about it. We had been talking about it since December when she got her gender marker changed. There was the small window in Texas where it was still legal for us to be married before I changed mine. Ultimately, we decided it was better to not rush things. Though, that whole conversation prepared us for the final decision and now it is going to happen.

I know it will all be worth it when the dust finally clears.

Hugs and best wishes.
