Friends, Readers, Closetfolk: Lend me your ears.

Glitch has received an incredibly good reaction as did Naughty or Ice and I've been telling you all about Syryn's Song, the other story I have in the works for my Hyperverse. I have run into a snag though. You see Syrn's song is already well over 25000 words and I'm not even near the end of book one yet. So this is where I'm asking my readers what they would like.

Given the sheer length that book one alone is working it's way toward, would you all like to see Syryn's Song as a serial which I will update whenever I have enough written to make it worth it to the readers? I was thinking of possible blocks of 10,000 to 12,000 words. If you all want to wait for the full story I will do that, but if not I will post the first chapter whenever you like. This won't be something with a regular update schedule just when I finish a big enough block like with I Wish. Let me know what you all think,

Thanks and big hugs

Syryn's Song

I'd love to see it in any form, and if you put it up as a serial, I'd get to see some parts sooner!

Sweetie, for some smaller.....

Blocks are easier to keep up with, and budget time for. Whether you post them on a regular basis or not. I like larger blocks, but don't always get around to reading them right away. Smaller may also translated into higher kudo's numbers. Hope this helps Amethyst dear! Loving Hugs Talia

Well I really enjoyed glitch

Well I really enjoyed glitch (haven't read syryn's song yet) and I prefer reading in larger chunks.

However if it is as easy or easier for you to write and post as a serial in smaller chunks?- do that.

You will probably get more reads and kudos too, which is an added bonus.

Umm sorry for waffling on keep up the great work!...

Never Do This

Never ask readers what they want. Every answer you receive will be different. Always remember that you're the one in charge, they are the unwashed masses grovelling at your feet.

Most people are stupid. They don't recognise real talent until someone rubs their face in it. Or it becomes 'cool'.

But I'm not complaining. Someone has to drag the human race forward. As Todd Rundgren said, I can't let the world die just cause no one would try.

Elitist? Yeah, and proud of it. When I was 5 my mum was collared by my teacher, who showed her one of my drawings. "This is either a very bad picture of a dog, or a really excellent map of Ireland," she said.

"It'll be Ireland," sighed mum.

Find someone who's written a better story than 'Glitch'. It might take you a while, but eventually you'll manage it. Then you'll have stumbled upon an opinion worth hearing.

Ban nothing. Question everything.

In other words

Amethyst's picture

it's 'make an executive decision' time. To tell the truth I was leaning toward making is a serial to make it easier on myself and others because I have no clue how long book one is going to turn out to be let alone the whole story. I sort of wish I had your attitude about this but I've always lacked self-confidence. I just write words on a page, hope it turns out, and then worry for hours that people are going to hate what I write before I post it. I'm trying to break myself of that habit but not much luck so far.

Your mom sounds like an interesting person and it sounds like she's instilled a lot of confidence in you.

*hugs*

Don't take me too seriously. I'm just kitten around. :3

I think it depends on how you

I think it depends on how you write/edit. If you like to edit the whole story in the end to remove continuity errors and such, it would probably be better if you finished writing it before you're going to publish it.
Otherwise... well, I'm not against reading a serial.

Director's cut version?

What Beyogi said. With the caveat that you could always reissue it as a complete story after finishing the serial publication, with any edits to fix continuity errors. Of course, that could be done as the ebook edition; the collected Hyperverse?

I slept on it

Amethyst's picture

Or rather I laid in bed trying to sleep and I figured that it's probably easier for everyone involved (mostly me) if I do it in a serial format with longish chapters. So at some point today I will get around to posing the first part of it. Hopefully if people liked Glitch then they will like Syryn's Song.

Big hugs to you all and thanks for your input

Either way

I confess to a preference for longer stories but I like it in segments too.
