Tell me it's getting better?

Just feeling a little melancholy and shaky this morning, and I have to sleep before I get up at 7:00 AM. I've been approached my a PHD Doctor from a big local university who tells me that he knows that we have not been treated very well, and he wants me to help him make that better.

Those who know me, can confirm that I live a quiet life, and try to avoid the drama and hand wringing that makes so many of us miserable. I am no activist, not one bit. And, I am pretty much a prude, just trying to do the best I can to live like billions of other women.

I'm going to try to make this experience one that advances our cause. There will be writing and testifying.

Can someone tell me that it is getting better for us and this is a step in the right direction? I just really need someone to hold me and give me some courage if you can spare it.

Your Decision

You must go where your heart takes you, 'Your Heart.'

A reluctant warrior, dragged into a fight by another to serve their need will not last long, shying away after taking a few hits, if they last that long.

Unless you are willing to take the hits and are able to deal with the aftermath when you step into the line of fire, and odds are you will take hits, don't go, for I doubt if this professor will lift a finger to help you once he's through with using you. Cynical yes, but that is the way of the real world, you know, the one that exists beyond the two dimensional pages of a web site. I have seen it before.

Your call.

Yes, that is pretty cynical.

I've been at this and taken "a few hits" for a few years now. So what does it take to get into this warrior sorority?

As for your question, I think its getting better.

sometimes, it just feels like its getting better way too slowly ...

The line of fire is not a

The line of fire is not a place where I would like to see you being put into , and my gut (as large as it is)tells me that this is where this PHD(piled high & deep) is going to place you . People like him are users and I would rather not see you hurt like this could go.
the previously written is only my opinion ,but remember what my Dad used to say about opinions.
Follow your own judgment as to what you feel is best for you.

A Stalking Horse

It's been since 2004 that my family tried to make me miserable and devalued, or the GBLT folk try to get me to join them in obnoxious activism. It is possible to take hits and feel shattered, but to recover and get up and try again.

They can't win because they are wrong, and eventually they will know that.

activist. I will talk to anyone, but I refuse to get into their face. Haters hate, and I can't change that. What I can change is people who might be on the fence, show them we are just people like they are. That is all we can do.

Several things!

First what is the good doctor going to get out of this? I seriously doubt that he is
doing this for altruistic motives!! Knowing his motives will go a long way in making
the decision!!

Also consider what you are exposing yourself to!! Are you basically out to the general
society? If not how do you feel about that? Also who else may be affected by this?

Now I am a very active activist and totally out!! I do lectures at schools (High-schools,
colleges and universities), at government (state, federal), at work before I retired,
church and society in general. I have worked with trans groups and Gay groups and even
straight organizations. I subscribe to Harvey Milk's philosophy the only way to change
things is to come out of the closet and let the public see us! I understand that for
some people that would be difficult or even not something they wish to do!! That is for
each of us to decide!!

Now are things getting better? That is a multifaceted answer!! I transitioned 15 years
ago and from that perspective yes thy are better!! But we are a long way from acceptance
from society!! But I have faith that it will get better!!

So your decision is what will work for you and what risks you are willing to accept for
yourself and those close to you!! I am still concerned about the motivation of your PHD!!!

Pamela
