P.S. Oddly enogh at my mother' funeral her casket was covered with red roses as they were a favorite of hers... and her middle name was Rose... and her nickname Rosie.

And she ABSOLUTELY did not look like that Jetsons robot maid.

Flowers and colours meanings are strange.

And EXTREMELY dependent on area, culture and tradition.
With roses there are huge number of areas where you could be misinterpreted if you believe this list.
Red roses are more or less safe bet.
In some European countries, AFAIR, white roses are almost the same as diamond solitaire ring in USA :-)
Yellow roses in some European countries are last warning before divorce notice.
Other flowers could be tricky. There are separate colour codes for lilies. In Russia carnations for older woman will produce association with communist era Party celebrations and would not be appreciated in most cases but could be OK with ones born after 1980.
So: Consult local professional florist to avoid sticky situations :-)
