Since joining my new college in September, I have been hearing whispers of a small group of young men aged between 18 and 24 meeting up once a week to dress up in women's clothes.
Now I believed that the very thought of such a club was farfetched, ludicrous and downright unbelievable in the city in which I live. I would never have thought of young Irish college lads not only dressing up but in groups TOGETHER. This sort of thing isn't very common in most colleges around the country.
Anyway, I didn't believe it until I received a very curious email through my college address:
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of setting up a group where us fellas can get together and dress up in womens clothes again. Last years was rather fun and successful so I thought it would be class to set it up again this year. Meetings would only be for an hour or two, one or two evenings a week. Reply if interested.

There are cross dressing groups across the United States. The one I hear the most about is called Tri-ESS. As far as this college group, I'd want to know more about the group and find out about what they do. Is it cross dressing for its own sake, to learn more about how girls live, what? How private is it? More importantly, do you want to cross dress and are you okay with "outing" yourself in a new environment, and live with the reputation which could stay with you for a long time?
I'd advise proceeding with caution and maybe get a mailbox on Hotmail or Gmail to make and receive messages to protect your privacy.

This could be all above board, perhaps, but it might also be bait to pull in suckers who someone can set up to be humiliated or misused.
Hmm. I guess you could find one of them to have a face-to-face talk but you can never know if everything is above board or not.
Treat with extreme caution. If there is a genuine TG group that operates nearby, possibly as part of the local LGBT organisation, you'd be better off asking them if this is all kosher or not.

I'm sure there are such informal (and more organized) groups on campuses everywhere, Lily. Good luck, and I hope they're fun people.
As to security and safety, the throwaway email addy is a good idea, but, using the same addy, ask campus security/student administration about the group. They'll have an idea if there were problems in years past.

P.S. As to never having cross-dressed before, well, everyone starts *sometime*. Before then, well, they hadn't ever, either. :-)
Rennaisance is another
group, similar to Tri-Ess, in that they also are pretty much exclusively for cross dressers. I had brief contact with Rennaisance back in the late 80s, but never followed through with it because it didn't seem to be what I needed as a Transsexual. There is nothing wrong with being a cross dresser, but for me their aim wasn't close enough for what I needed. They are a very well known group and don't seem to hide what they are, so if the group to which you are referring is in anyway associated with them or Tri-Ess, I'm sure it's legitimate. Even if they are legitimate, I will echo the others in saying that you MUST be very cautious in considering joining them.
Be absolutely certain they are who they say they are. This IS college after all, and pranks are rampant and very often disguised as legitimate plans and requests. I'm sure you know what you might be risking if you ARE a cross dresser and they turn out not to be what they say they are.
I wish you the very best of luck and, for your sake, I hope they ARE exactly what they purport to be.
