Ok folks so I haven't been reading much or commenting and I'm sorry. Work is still the same, absolutely no changes. But that's not what this is about. What is it about you ask? Well gentle reader it is about, I got a vacation request approved and am off this whole week WOOHOO!!!. I have been writing like a madwoman I am collaborating with another author on the site and I am inspired. And I am attempting to bang out a story for the Holiday Contest I promised Sephrena that I would finally get something written and posted.
I was given a big box store bike and thanks to the wonderful ladies named Angharad, Cyclist, and Beverly Taff I am now on the road. They have posted such wonderful descriptions of their rides and rides in the stories they write, I was motivated to start riding. I have also started to walk a bit more around the neighborhood and some of the parks and trails around my city.
I was walking tonight and came across this beautiful girl she even posed for me.
So in my new outlook on life of trying to be positive I am looking for beauty out there. Trying to smell the roses, and let life take care of itself. I will be me eventually but I don't need to be depressed about it. Thank you friends for listening.

All kidding aside, Jenn....
...that is a stunning picture, and I audibly gasped when I first saw it. That's a shot you're likely never to get again. What a beautiful creature.

Yeah, here in my city we have
Yeah, here in my city we have quite a few pockets of wildlife. This particular trail is near a very large complex of buildings and schools called South Texas Medical Center. Most of the deer you do see are very skittish due to cars and lots of people living around. She seemed to know I meant no harm (she is about 10 feet away) she raised her head for that shot because of a motorcycle but went right back to eating after it passed. I have never seen a deer not care that I was around maybe she sensed no malice in me, I don't know but you're right it will probably never happen again I wish I had a real camera instead of my phone. I was breathtaken by the serene moment and will remember it forever.

Amazing Picture!
At first I didn't see much, but it only took 2 sec to see the doe. I think the pic is amazing because almost all the tones are very similar and all the colors are muted, but there she is, easy to see!
So, you are in Texas? I'm in the Phoenix AZ area, a lot closer than all those Brits! Did you get a mountain or road bike? Where do you plan on riding? Do roads in your area have bike lanes (just a painted stripe on the side of the road)? I used to do some mountain biking on pretty rough terrain; I quit because getting out of steep sided washes (even if just 4 or 5 feet high) required instant strength, more than I could generate. Now I just stick to roads; I can gradually and steadily apply power, going hard either to go fast or go up steep hills.
If you have any technical questions, I'm a mechanical engineer and a pretty good bike mechanic. Now days, I buy a frame and fork on eBay, get the rest of components where ever and assemble the bike myself. I don't have any experience with suspension components (shocks, springs, linkages), however. I often make my own fairly simple parts out of Al. PM me if you like!
Hugs and Bright Blessings,
Renee
It was getting towards dusk
It was getting towards dusk and she blended into the mesquite trees, nature's camouflage. It's a mountain bike one of those wally-world specials but I couldn't argue the price. San Antonio has gone a long way to provide bike lanes and parks with light trails to ride on. We even have Greenways (paved paths for walking and riding that follow the many creeks around here) which are inter connected throughout the city, look it up it's really quite amazing.

My roommate once hit a flying deer
I kid you not. While delivering for the auto parts, my last job, she was driving to Grand Rapids and a deer runs out into traffic. A big pickup hit the deer, sent it airborne and as it came down, she hit it with the front of her van. It slid a few feet, got up and ran off. After she told me the story I have always refereed to it as SUPER-DEER!
Then a few years before that, I was living in a travel trailer on my parents property in California and when I left their house was headed to mine, a deer had been sleeping at the back of their house, right near my trailer. Well, I spooked it and it raced at me, missing me by inches. Almost had to change my pants after that.
Sure that's a girl?
Kind of looks to me like she's wearing antlers. That or there is a mighty strange looking stick hanging over her head.
The other night we had to slow way down as a seven point buck sauntered across the road. Not much in the way of predators around here (Sonoma County, CA) other than SUVs and the occasional mountain cat. Wished I'd had a camera with me... he was a beaut!

Gender bending deer?
No it was a she, and yes that is a mesquite branch. A very well placed one.

Lovely piccie!
You might never believe thei but I live in one of the craziest towns for Wildlife anywhere in the UK. Every morning at daybreak a group of red deer hinds pick their way slowly accross the hil behind us and every evening they pick their way back, browsing as they go. This may not sound odd to a cross-ponder but I live in a smokey ol'e steel town with two whopping great blast furnaces going at it night and day, not to mention a huge rolling mill and assorted strip mills plus a busy industrial harbour plus all the coking ovens and slag tips it's really industrial! Despite the motorway and busy railways that abound around our area, several evenings a month we find our 'wheelie bins' have been tipped over and the lids levered open by scavenging deer then opportunist raiders avail themselves of the scattered scraps. (Truth to tell, the deer are a bloody nuisance but one can't be angry cos they look so gentle and delicate. Who could kill bambie?)
Not for Port Talbot the urban fox but the urban deer. Some might even consider this POSH but that hardly applies in this town.
Lovely piccie.

Yes they are beautiful, I
Yes they are beautiful, I think I will start taking a point and shoot when I walk and ride. Maybe I have found a new calling amateur wildlife photographer. I will stay away from skunks though.
