Last week I wrote part one of my new series Ithycca. After writing the beginning I needed to find a way to keep myself from getting bored. I guess I'm one of those people that like to read the good parts of a story and sometimes get turned off if a story drags along.
So, I decided to write the story in a different way. Basically I'm writing the good parts in my head first, and then adding in the parts leading up to them as I go along. I actually find it rather enjoyable this way.
Of course that means I have chapter 4, 5, and 8 done, before I even got to chapter 2, but eh.
Have you ever tried different methods of writing in order to make it a more pleasant experience?

Experimental writing.
I think many authors try things to test their limits. My "Suddenly" was to see how much emotion I could put in a story. "Natural Slave" was written out of profound loneliness and desolation. "Extreme" was an effort to depict the limits of absolute terror, and unbridled violence followed by periods of quiescence. Finally, the anxiety brought on by all the changes caused the soldiers to break down.
I think it is good to experiment with story ideas. Although some will be critical of your work when you do. "Construction Diva" drew some really nasty comments, but I didn't care because so much of the story was indirectly about me.
