If the UN has become involved, it's probably the kiss of death. Russia is a major player in the UN, security council etc, yet has a poor human rights record on the gay/gender issue. I don't think China is much help either with a worse human rights record than Texas.

So do Mr Ban's well intentioned comments mean Iran is going to stop persecuting gays or enforcing sex-changes? Or stop US evangelicals stirring things up in Africa? I doubt it. Okay, so it's better he says positive things but actions speak louder than words and the actions at present in much of the world are pretty disgusting.
