Well, I am trying to keep a positive attitude about my brief experience in the workforce as Dorothy. It was good for me to be me in a RL situation, something I can try and build on if I find another place accepting enough to let me be myself. I just don't know how realistic that actually is. I have so few skills, I feel like some grunt job is my best option, and those are not usually flexible. Ah, well.

Don't give up here.
Every new thing one tries takes time and usually more than one try.

If at first you don't succeed...
...give up???
I don't think so.
I have worked in high pressure telemarketing and I did okay. I couldn't keep up the pace, though, and burned out. I actually left after giving my boss a tear-filled resignation. And they asked me back for this season. After two seasons I respectfully turned them down.
My point is that I don't think that it was the girl part that was the problem. It seems to me that it was the job. It takes a very special type of person to do that sort of work. That sort of employer goes through hundreds of candidates to get a few good salespeople.
So, keep on keepin' on. You'll make it.

hi there.
I too was unsuited to telemarketing... I switched to the back office where there is a 2nd set of callers who call the customer back to confirm the want the stuff the front office is selling.
Its a whole lot more honest feeling and almost zero pressure.
