I think Angharad's suggestion is good, leave off the foundation and powder. I know when I use them I always seem to get some on my collar, too. It's not much of a problem for me, though, because I use very light colors and I rarely wear makeup anymore anyway.

Thanks to everyone, I've been using a lot of foundation on my neck to make my tan more even, now that I think about it I'm going to fix that problem another way.

Heavy foundation is slightly old-fashioned these days
If you simply must wear it, fade it out to nothing, starting at the top of the neck and going to nothing anywhere it might touch clothing. Alternatively, purchase nothing but "nude-coloured" summer clothing in future.

GG women don't usually wear foundation or powder below their chin/jaw... unless they are wearing open collar tops.

When you put on a foundation it should be as close to you natural skin tone as possible, and then put on a cape over your clothes. to keep your clothes from getting covered in powder,eye shadows, and blush.
Never do your neck line. Feather the foundation and powder below your jawline. Dust your face off from your powder before putting on the eyliner, eye shadow and blush.
I've been doing this for years and my clothes do not get makeup on them.

Re-learning makeup is no fun... And, with vitiligo it's looking more and more like I'll be forced to use foundation. *sighs* I've not found concealers that match my skin well enough. *sighs*
I'm not convinced that things have improved significantly - cosmetics wise - in the past few decades, except to provide some hypoallergenic options.
Thanks for asking the question, as it's one I have to face (though, I have a 21 year old daughter to ask as well)...

Mightn't having any hair/beard removed (laser/electrolysis) from around the collar-line make foundation there unnecessary?

I started out doin the Racoon.
Just train yourself not to furl your forehead, make your eyes sparkle (so imgagine it is so, you'll be astonished), open them up, and practice smiling in the mirror. Imagine that you are deleriously happy when you do it, even if you are not. I seldom use anything but coverup on my chin and around my lips. I have this egg sized wine stain on my chin. Use just a little lippy, and you are all set. Whose telling you to use makeup? Why it is those who sell it. Hmmmmm
