I'm having a lot of asthma brought on by the URI I've got. No air.

I've got my meds and I hope to be okay in a day or so.

Hugs,
Erin

Take care, and all the time you need

I can live with seeing the site down a bit rather than see you get sicker trying to fix the site when you should be in bed.

Get well soon

That's got to be the worst Christmas present ever. I don't live far from the University of Rhode Island. I could go yell at them for sending you asthma.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Call for the EMTs if you must and get to the hosptial

My sister igored a cold, ent in when she did not feel better, was diagosed with mild single lung pnuemonia. They gave here antibiotics, sent her home and a couple days later she was fighting for her life in hospital with double pnumonia. They guessed wrong on the strain.

We nearly lost her.

Get yourself well, let the assistants/volunteers run things or even shut down for some days if you must, Erin. Asthma is a SERIOUS chronic diease that must be taken as such, SERIOUSLY.

Don't Let It Get Too Bad

...before calling 911. My wife deteriorated into asthma staticus during one attack, and even with hospitalization and intensive care, it was a very, very close thing.

So, if it gets worse than you've ever had it before, or if you're getting exhausted just trying to breathe, throw in the towel and call a cab, or for an ambulance if you're past the cab-riding phase. If you've got a few hospitals near you, try to figure out which one is best equipped for the purpose. Large teaching hospitals with trauma-care facilities and chest clinics might be your best shot.

As grubby as it is, Bellevue Hospital in NYC saved my wife's life when she was well past the point of no return. We didn't know when we went there that it was the premier facility for the purpose in the whole city. It was just the closest.

Best of luck, Erin! I hope you feel better soon on your own with the meds you have in hand. But, if you don't, please don't wait trying to tough it out.

Don't let this malinger

I left a URI untreated and wound up with a tendency to go asthmatic after heavy exercise ( and thus heavy breathing. ) This persisted for over a decade before it finally went away. Please take care of it !

Hi Erin,

I've come into this about a week late so I hope that you have improved significantly since you first posted.

I guess that I am like most others here at BC. We are a bit selfish and would like to see you return to us fit and healthy so that you can continue the terrific work that you do on this site.

Get well soon. Get help if you need it. Get treatment so that the help that you get will make a difference.

Best wishes,

Robyn B

Doing better

Cold almost gone. No more asthma at the moment. Still have the sinusitis which is being nasty today with headache and all. Mostly, I'm tired after having been sick so much.

Hugs,
Erin

So Happy to Hear You Are Better

I think someone else mentioned netti (irrigating the nasal passages). It's pretty gross to do and a bit tricky, but it's an effective way to clear out clogged nasal passages without using caustic nasal sprays.

Here's a blog that I found about netti if you aren't familiar with it. I've actually done it myself a few times, and it works well.
