but not neccesarily for everyone!

The forecasters are talking about a white Easter for parts of the UK, meanwhile my home territory has had more white stuff over the last couple of days and i'm missing it!

Anyhoo, in this neck of the woods we've had a mixed bag on the weather front although temperatures have been straying into double figures. On Monday i caught a lift with Aunty Bev to the orange DIY emporium some four miles south east of here, we failed to find most of what we were looking for. I then set off on foot to get in my daily exercise, its not a long way but did involve a stiff climb up to Kingswood which occupies the highest hilltop in Bristol. Having set off in the dry it first turned to a light fret then the so'westerly brought in a series of deluges which, even with my umbrella, resulted in me arriving back quite damp!

The highlight of the day was a home made Rogan Josh with homemade bhajis, not to everyones taste i know but i fo like a good curry and one that i've made is doubly satisfying, Aunty Bev wasn't complaining either!

Tuesday's forecast was dry even if the wind was still about, i set off for a trip up to Stroud using a dairly direct but little used route through Wotton under Edge. Why don't i use it more? could be something to do with the climb out of Wotton whose average 10% grade hides a couple of much steeper ramps but at least i had a bit of wind assistance. I have a favoured burger bar stop a bit west of the town where i enjoyed sausage & chips with a cuppa, the sun warming my back through my multiple layers.

The return was always gonna be relatively flat back down the Severn valley, it was quite bright but the wind had a bite and a 20mph headwind can get a bit tiresome after a bit. By the time i stopped the clock i was 110km in with close on 900m of up, my back sore from three hour headwind effort, riding with less 'vigour' might be more comfortable but with my charity 100 miler and the Spreewald 200km both coming up, i need to raise my game a bit from my winter sloth!

So there we are, today is much calmer if somewhat grey, we could see a sprinkle of damp at some point, not that i'm planning going too far on todays walk!

That's it for today, more musings at the weekend,
Wiedersehn,
Madeline Anafrid
