Research is a never ending study. Only the uneducated claim science is settled. Keep in mind, medicine is science. I swore at Harry Benjamin and his Standards of Care the first time I read about his diagnoses of transgender. Truth be known, I wished for...,

I've parsed both articles and if one wants to read them as they were written then please go to the web page. However be advised I am not an outside observer as I am actively engaged. Thus I am kinda prejudice as to if it works.

Benefits and Negative effects of using Progesteron
https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/104/4/1181/5270376 (this was a medical study)
Progesterone Is Important for Transgender Women’s Therapy—Applying Evidence for the Benefits of Progesterone in Ciswomen
Oral Micronized Progesterone’s Benefits for Transgender Women (I strongly disagree it should not be taken orally unless one wants to kill themselves)
More rapid feminization
Progesterone suppression of gonadal androgen production
Progesterone plus E2 leads to optimal breast maturation and size (This is why I’m dancing naked around a cactus in the full moon giving thanks to the Breast Fairy Queen. It’s working. I'm also still massaging the breasts with the change in hormones)
Progesterone improves cardiovascular physiology

https://queerdoc.com/blog/progesterone/ (Not exactly a medical research paper)
A study done in the 1990s, called the Women’s Health Initiative1, raised some concerns that supplemental progesterone increased the rates of cardiac events, strokes, pulmonary emboli, and invasive breast cancers in post-menopausal cis women. An entirely different progesterone (who knew there were so many different kinds) and used only genetic women in their research
For MtF women progesterone brings about more developed feminization
Helps create larger more developed breasts
Reduces testosterone
Eestrogen and progesterone work hand-in-hand (and some times in opposition) to bring about these health benefits.
We know that progesterone is needed for the later stages of breast development in cis women (Tanner 4-5
SYNTHETIC progestins cause increases in strokes, heart problems, and blood clots, BUT micronized progesterone, which is BIOIDENTICAL, does not have these effects

Barb, back to my studies. It should be taken annus, to bypass the liver, which is a disgusting job, but we’re women and we can handle the dirty jobs men won’t touch.

Keep in mind testosterone is produced in genetic women. Zero testosterone will result in tiredness, lack of energy, lethargic. Don't shut it all down. I did for two months to kick start the estrogen. Did it on purpose and with medical guidance. Please be very careful with your body. It was assigned to you in trust. "IF" one is MtF and taking spirolactone, I strongly advise them to watch this video. Besides keeping breast development from happening there are other negatives associated with it. It is a drug I wish had never been suggested for MtF care. Damn you Harry Benjamin.

Please to God do NOT go off on a tangent and change your hormones without consulting your doctor. Be very careful what one wishes for as Transgender Care is not approved by any medical board. There are no, zero medicines which are approved for transgender. Everything prescribed is done off label by one's doctor. If you are a vet check around if you aren't receiving care. Amarillo washed me out of TG care. OKC doesn't have any reservations except the progesterone. I was already on it and my Endo said, "You've studied the risks, I'll allow it but I won't prescribe it for anyone else." My psychologist and I both laughed when I told her. "You're on the outside looking in. I'm on the inside looking out. I have the advantage."

My Side of It.

I started with Spironolactone, but I soon found a Doctor who was retiring to give me a Vasectomy. Didn't need Spiro any more. I was high on psychotropic meds and Estrogen in pill form, prescribed by my shrink. They fucking near killed me. As soon as I could went to Thailand and had SRS. When I got back, the VA doctor put me on Estradiol Patches instead of pills. She felt the pills would ruin my liver and kidneys. With the patches, the Estrogen goes right into the blood stream. WOW, I grew breasts and nice ones, I think in about 2 months. Owing to my being XXY .......and stuff, my voice was always high.

It's been a ride alright since 2004. Do overs are not available. I seem to pass if I do not tell. As of about 2 years ago, I have zero sexual response.

Hormones

My body is... unusual. I have never taken anything but estradiol valerate, certainly no 'blockers' as I have never needed them. My boobs are a satisfactory C-cup.

After many years of hormones, and the spiro I wish I had never got close to, along with lots of breast massage I had achieved a C. To create good cleavage I used inserts in the side of my bras to push the side boob inward. To quote one of the articles I read, my breasts had stagnated as a C but not the shape i wished. Four months ago I quit spiro and went to two blockers, Bi and Pro at the same time to completely shut down what little testosterone I might be producing. Stayed on the two for a month, dropped Bi stayed with Progesterone and am very pleased with development, nice cleavage without the pads. To get good cleavage the breasts need to overfill the bra. Of course there are bras designed to push in and up. I should be able to drop the blocker in six months as the estradiol should fill both rolls, blocker and estrogen supply.

Estradiol valerate.as you already understand also does double duty, blocking and providing. I personally know two girls who are doing the same thing and not using a blocker. Went to lunch with one of them two weeks ago. Very attractive girl.
Hugs Steph C and thanks for the additional input. I know many of those who are reluctant to say anything appreciate it also.

Not clear on why blockers.

I'll admit to being snotty and rebellious. I was persistent too and found a Urologist who would remove my nuts for $1000. After that I did not need blockers. At that time in my life, my goal was not gender change. I just wanted the masturbation to stop. I felt too guilty. A few years later, I did go to Thailand for SRS, and recently I've asked myself why I did that?

Stupid people think that SRS makes you a woman. Being half woman, XXY the regret is not as harsh.

Little by little?

To address the scarcity of clinicians trained to treat trans patients, Columbia Nursing is launching the first-ever Certificate in Professional Achievement in Transgender/Gender Non-Binary Health Care for Nurse Practitioners this September.

“We are committed to having only transgender faculty teaching the CPA program. Currently, the program has four faculty members who are seasoned nurse practitioners and identify as transgender,” says Kelly, who is the program director. The deadline for application is July 15.

Thank you Andrea, it fills my soul with hope trans are finally being thought of as human and deserve care the same as all do. We have come a long way though most don't realize it. Up until the early sixties some trans were being institutionalized. LSD and other mind blowing drugs, along with electric shock treatment, and a lobotomy was the treatment to cure them. I met one girl who agreed she was cured before she lost her mind. Others she knew weren't so fortunate. She fled once she was released. The last I herd from her she was in CA and surviving by losing all contact with family, friends
I won't live long enough to see acceptance though out the U.S. But I find joy in the reports such as the one you posted.
Hugs Andrea Lena, I pray you also find peace and comfort in your life.
