It is not unusual
I'm sure that many of us here have done just that. I broke mine a couple of years ago. Most embarrassing for a few seconds. Then I realised the funny side of things.

When I was working up to telling my parents that I was in therapy, I had to keep the cats out of my bedroom at night. I was afraid of hurting them during a stress-induced bad dream ... :(

I haven't broken a bed since I was a newly wed ... a long, long time ago. I must have gotten him really excited. :)
