Plagiarism on Patreon

I am reposting this from Fictionmania: A message by Sir Lee with my comment to it:
"Subject: Re: Plagiarism on Patreon
A new user recently began posting stories on BigCloset -- or actually, the first chapters of stories with a link to Patreon at the end. A reader noticed that one story was actually an old one by TG author Samantha Michelle and asked about it. The poster then claimed (in a somewhat broken English) to be Samantha and changed their BigCloset display name to "Samantha Michelle." Yet their other two stories on BC did not seem to be by Samantha Michelle.
I managed to trace them (and other stories in their Patreon and DeviantArt pages) to other writers -- an old-time Usenet writer named "Vanesa", Storysite.org's Erica Kennel, Suejrz here at FM, and Jennifer White at Storysite). Somehow I doubt that all these pen names originally belonged to a single writer.
Erin from BC is aware of the issue but is uncertain how to handle it.
It appears to be a new kind of scam, a bit different from just selling the stories on Amazon: take an old story from free sites, post the first chapter and ask for money on Patreon to "write" more chapters.
I don't know what's required to flag a Patreon or DeviantArt account as fraudulent; furthermore, I have only suspicions (OK, very strong ones), and no direct claim on those stories. Does anyone have contact with any of the aforementioned writers, or at least can tell with certainty that the poster is not them?"

"Thank you good sir, for bringing this to our attention.
Plagiarism is despicable.
The original writers have rights in copyright, but we all know how hard that is. In the case of Patreon this is fraud - obtaining money by deceit. Also, as Patreon is a service operating to allow the creation of original works I am sure that they will have a policy. I would hope that it might be aggressive - which it would need to be to be effective.
But I think that all writers have a duty to out such people and at least lambaste them.
Maryanne"
