My thoughts on the world and what is coming about for the future! Expect at least one post from the Shady Place of my mind at least once a week or once every two weeks when I'm busy.
Dia dhuit mo gcairde! Sa bearla, "Hello my friends!"
The last few days have been physically draining and I'm not sure why I've been passing out so hard each time I come home from work. I work at Petsmart, here in Western Washington, where I cashier and work as a Petcare Specialist. For the last 2-3 weeks I've closed the petcare department and the following weekend I've opened as a cashier. The work leaves me pretty tired emotionally and mentally from being in a constant state of not giving two fucks about how people treat me. Good thing, my medicine helps with this, and a bad thing, it still drains me at the end of the day.
I've been working a lot a new project related to some ideas bounced between myself and Branwen. Pretty sure a lot of people have heard of it since I talk about it offhand -a lot-. Anyway, the new universe involves a few things like steampunk and some cool ideas on mutation. The first story is in the works and I think I could have it done next month. My work on the first part of Scald Crow 2 is about done I just need to edit one of Branwen's scenes and we'll be good!
The New Story is called Ashes of Rebirth and it deals with a slightly altered style of writing I've imposed from Scald Crow or first person. Until I wrote Scald Crow 1 I've always have been a writer who avoided the first person narrative. There's no clear reason. I guess it's hard for me to really like the first person in some cases as it's not always done the best. To me, PoV characters can easily seem to lack creativity if it's done in the first person. Now, considering I read a lot of fanfic, and it was literally me needing to evolve beyond my original constraints. After a lot of practice, I found a proper style for how to express the narrative without sounding terrible.
To be clear historically I've always used the third person past tense for all my stories. My first two completed books never changed from this style and over the years I've created a lot of different ways to write a story.
Ashes will feature a lot of new attributes and is proving to be a challenge. Queer culture during the 1800s was far more expansive than modern media has led me to believe. If I had the opportunity to take another class in college I'd definitely revisit LGBT History to get a much grander sense of what it means to be trans and a lesbian in this day and age. I mean, I know bit's and pieces that I feel I should know, and yet I do not. And it's something I plan to rectify in the coming months.
