So, yeah.
Finally got a working laptop. It took the VA over a year and I have been slowly going crazy. There was almost no progress on anything. And then my thumbdrive ate it. So that's been fun. But I have a new machine and it works great.
And while that has been amazing, as I can game again, I have had trouble getting back to the writing. But I found a way around that. I am writing a story that I will be posting here and a few other places. So, yeah, there you go.

When you don't have a computer to post with! ;-) I am happy you now have a machine to use, and looking forward to seeing what genius work you have next for us.
BTW: If this happens to you again, check your local pawnshops. Now that only Win10 is being supported computers with older OSs are being sold cheap. I picked up a Dell with Win7 for $35! Plenty good enough for my normal uses. Just load a good antivirus program and firewall, then be selective about what websites you visit.

Well, I certainly won't say no to generosity. I would be rather thankful to have a backup. Now I just need to rescue files from a thumbdrive and I'll be all caught up.

The thumbdrive files may be gone. If it 'ate it' because the USB port was bent up or down, then it's probably salvageable. That's usually a broken connection. I've had people hand me ones that were bitten by their dog, and the main flash chip was shattered.
