Perhaps I have been kidding myself in thinking I don't actually like men?

I can't actually figure it out. Maybe he could be my Daddy? I never had a proper one. :(

He is actually a Fireman on a Steam Locomotive. You don't actually see the picture when the Video is playing, but it is the little picture that shows before you click on it.

Mein GOTT! What a man! He would just have to look at me and I would fall, helpless, into his arms. No man has ever affected me this way, not even the Captain at "Southern Comfort"!

Perhaps I'll go take a cold shower? I should write a story about this?

Wondered

It took a bit to work out where the video was recorded. Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad that is in Colorado and New Mexico. The equipment is D&RGW narrow gauge that runs on one of the spur lines off the standard gauge main line. Interesting to see but glad I am not doing what looks to be backbreaking work.

Only periforally related...

In Bangkok's "train market" these folks live and do business
right on the commuter line's tracks until a train comes crawling through,
barely squeezing through the narrow alleyway (train comes at about 0:58)

They're probably glad it isn't a coal-burning engine!

Found this after reading an article about Hanoi closing down their
own famous train-track market because too many inobservent
selfie-taking tourists were getting run over and killed.

The Toltec & Cumbres RR

is IMHO, the best preserved RR in the USA. I've travelled on it twice. Far, far better than the Durango & Silverton.

Those 2-8-0's sure eat coal though.

How I got coal in my knickers

laika's picture

You like the guy, nothing wrong with that,
and all we want to do is talk about trains LOL...
If it was me who was smitten by him I'd be fantasizing up a storm
and probably end up writing a lurid story about wandering up the engine
when looking for the women's bathroom and striking up a conversation,
(He had a nice smile. "This is hot work," he said, "Do you mind if I take my shirt off?")
And we'd end up doing it in the coal hopper. I'd call it:
HOW I GOT COAL IN MY KNICKERS

When I explained that I could never see him again, and why, Tommy said he understood; but I could tell he was devastated. We both were.

He wiped the single tear that slid down his sooty cheek with his calico bandana, claiming that he must have gotten a cinder in his eye, but I knew better...

Now you got it !!!

Lol, I spent my whole working life running and fixing machinery and having Electricity scare the hell out of me while I worked on it. I'm profoundly disinterested in machinery, though I think that with a minimum of help, I could drive that Locomotive.

Now, that wonderful, smelly man with his huge arms and broad shoulders, sigh !!! Coal in my knickers ? That sounds interesting. :)

Given Time

I'll have access to a brand spanking new Steam Loco for you to drive should you so wish. I'm a sponsor of the build. It is a 4-4-0 Loco. Nowhere near as big as those D&RGRR 2-8-0's but an awful lot simpler and just as much fun.

Now I have the song from C.W.

Now I have the song from C.W. McCall running through my head (Silverton)

Song

The song I have running through my head is The City of New Orleans.

Arlo Guthrie, or Steve

Arlo Guthrie, or Steve Goodman? (or, gods forbid, Willie Nelson?)

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Yes - Steve Goodman wrote it,

Yes - Steve Goodman wrote it, and it's IMO somewhat better than Arlo's. (which is still very good)
