Because Allison's story ties in heavily with Woodcrest, it plays out like this:

Makayla will run parallel to both of these series, but it won't end until the last chapter of Allison and Woodcrest are published, even though it's already written. Once Makayla is finished, all three series will merge and we can finally start the real story.

I think this helps quite a bit. With the similar storylines and intermixed dribbling out, it has been confusing at times. But that is redeemed by good writing and desire for more.
