I don't watch football usually, but I would watch it more often if games were as good as the fourth quarter of this Superbowl. Two excellent teams, two fantastic quarterbacks, head to head competition between the minds of two great coaches. Wow!

The Pats didn't let themselves be outplayed, they just got out-lucked by a Giants team that made no important mistakes. Double wow!

Sportsmanship

How about that great display of sportsmanship by Pats coach Bill Belichick at the end of the game, walking off the field before that last play.

Sportsmanship???

Less than 10% of the college athletes surveyed recently thought respecting your opponent had anything to do with sportsmanship.

Education

That would suggest to me that over 90% of college athletes are not being taught what they should be taught, in college and earlier. Now you know why I'm not a sports fan.

Didn't watch a bit

I had a hard enough time watching when the Packers were in in the mid 1990's. The Superbowl is too drawn out, too late at night and over-hyped to death.

It gets in the way of the game.

Given that the Patriots admitted to deliberate cheating over a period of at least three years it is fitting the bastards lost. But then pro sports often encourage the rules breakers "They bring *color* and *excitment* to the game or such is the excuse. Look at the Dallas Coyboys in the 80s and 90s and all the fellons/accused fellons they employed, look at The Philidelphia Fliers and their goons making pro hokey a joke. And the steriod use in pro baseball is appalling.

Where is the fun in the game?

Hell even in the Packers Lombardy era, those first two Superbowls, dad took us sledding, much more fun. And we are Parkes fans.

P.S I'll believe Bobby Knight has *retired* from coaching college basketball only when I see his body in a casket. That sort of idiot is a perfect example of why athletes have such sorry morals. Sportmanship is less important than the exclusibve contract each school or conference signs with Nike, Addidas and so one.

As a New England fan

I was worried about this one.The Giants did a great job and earned their win close or not.The Patriots just gave away to much and when they scored with 2 something left I knew it left to much time for the Giants.Plus they just didn't protect Brady well enough I never figured to see him roughed up as much.Amy

Rah Rah Rah, its over till late summer , so long football

I am not a sports fan. I have better things to do than watch favorite pastimes for couch potatoes. I am one of thousands that did not watch one minute of the Souper bowl. We could do better things with our dollars then promote brainless athletes to seek millions. Kinda reminds me of the Roman Gladiaters. You know the entertainmnet before the Lions east the Christians. Two years from now out of the millions who watched teh game todya only a handfull will remember the score and the two teams who played
I may sound bitter about sports, but it is where the boys in the neighborhood discovered I was not good at playing any type of sports. I became the center of Attention when they needed somebody to beat up. I was the christian and they were the lions.
Needless to say for twenty years this little sissy was in charge of a lot of macho men. I smile with a large grin.
Oh well so much for a rant and rave.
Some day people will see how barbaric most of the sports are. More fnas are hurt becasue of who they cheer for than players are with protection on.

I'm actually quite athletic and pretty good at most sports if I choose to have a go. Mostly they just don't appeal and I'm not a 'watcher'. But I can and do watch a top quality game of whatever every now and again and you can sort of almost see why so many do. Bit like religion.

I thought I might give this a look even though I wouldn't really know what's going on but the only station showing it I can't get where I just moved to...ah well. Did see a few of the adds earlier. One of those current affairs shows raving about cost and return. Couldn't help but smile at Naoimi Campbell dancing with lizards. The ball is pigskin isn't it?

Kristina

Pigskin

American footballs haven't been made from pigskin for many years. I think they started getting away from that in the 1930's for economic and ethical reasons. Official footballs are all made from leather. Yeah, I thought the dancing lizards were great, too. Loved the way one of them slurped up the dancing bug. :)

Great Ad

...Except for the fact that I don't remember one iota of what it is it was for. Unless they're selling dancing lizards, I'd call that ad a failure. :-)

Too true

The only ad I can link to a product was the baby in the high chair. IIRC, it was ETrade.

Foot Ball is for the boys.

Gwen I don't usually watch it either unless someone who likes it is with me. I'd rather fix them drinks and pizza. LOL

However, I was talking to Cathy on SKYPE and somehow I got to watching it. I know, "House" was coming on and I did not want to miss that.

Anyhow, the last quarter really caught my attention, and then I began to wish that I had sat down for the whole game. I had forgotten about the comercials. I really thought that the guys in the chrome body armor were HOT! One of those guys could carry me home any time! Giggle.

Oddly, some of those football players now seem pretty HOT to me. Maybe I have a new reason to watch football????? Giggle!

Anyhow, somehow I began to think about Christine Penner; hoping that things are going OK for her; knowing that she, like the rest of us will have good days and hard spots.

God bless you Christine, where ever you are.
