Update: I just put one of our bills for about $200 on my credit card because there is not enough in the PayPal account to cover it. This is how after sixteen years I am about $16,000 in debt. $1000 a year isn't bad, huh? :)
Anyway, thanks to everyone who has given and please, if you can send us something this month, we would appreciate it. There is lots of work going on here to keep the site functioning into the future that no one really sees. Good things are happening behind the curtain. :)

We're asking for a little more for January this month, $3000 instead of $2500. Why? Because we are taking a bit of vacation, to tell the truth.
On the 19th I will be flying to Florida to meet up with Piper and family for a visit to Walt Disney World. Much of this is being underwritten by a friend for Piper and Company but we thought we would ask for a bit more as a cushion in case of unexpected expenses. I used to work for Disney and I'm still a member of the credit union which is worth some small discounts on a few special offers.
Thanks to everyone who helped us make our goal in December and thanks to everyone who can contribute this month. I'll also be visiting Katie while in Florida who at this moment is still in the hospital. If any of you live in the Orlando or Tampa areas and would like to meet, send me a PM.
We have the usual bills due, about $800 for hosting and $1250 for other things in the next two weeks. And almost another $1000 before the end of the month. Anything will help.

This unfortunately may make a casual visitor to this site think 'hey they are getting ad revenue so I don't need to give'. BC used to be ad-free but this brings up the whole ad or not to ad question plaguing all internet sites nowadays.
Me, I can give a bit more each month because low gas prices are saving me about 30 dollars a month nowadays so a puzzles me that you have to struggle so hard to get people to contribute.

I run and Adblocker on this and pretty well every other site. There are two that refuse to function with it enabled (grrrrrrr).
However I make direct contributions to the HatBox that far, far exceed any Ad revenue that might be lost due to Adblocking.
Perhaps if more did this then there would be less need for Ads in the first place?

It has become a safety issue since one has no control over an ad sourced from a server not controlled by this website.
Like you I contribute way beyond the 'super hatbox recurring' or whatever. The only conclusion that can be made is that there are a lot of non-contributing readership.
Advertising and Gifts
While we do source some ads from PW and Amazon, the majority of the ads on this website are sourced via our own Adserver which runs Revive software. I host the adserver on a separate server, off my TGFiction.Net domain and keep the software tuned and up to date.
We quite honestly are VERY careful with the ads we allow on the site, and are very picky about content and reputation. One of the reasons we still ask for Gifts is that we don't allow non-reputable advertisers, and other content that are willing to pay a lot more for our adspace.
