AS I AGE - FOOD FOR THOUGHT?
1. I talk to myself, because sometimes I need expert advice.
2. Sometimes I roll my eyes out loud.
3. I don't need anger management. I need people to stop pissing me off.
4. My people skills are just fine. It's my tolerance of idiots that needs work.
5. The biggest lie I tell myself is "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it."
6. When I was a child I thought nap time was punishment. Now it's like a mini-vacation.
7. The day the world runs out of chocolate is just too terrible to think about.
8. Even duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound!
9. Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes, and then come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller.
10. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would've put them on my knees.
11. When the kids text me "plz" which is shorter than please. I text back "no" which is shorter than "yes".
12. At my age "getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I came in there for.

Homonyms, synonyms, heterographs, contractions, slang, colloquialisms, clichés, spoonerisms, and plain old misspellings are the bane of writers, but the art and magic of the story is in the telling not in the spelling.
I am not getting old and forgetful
Now, what were we talking about...?

I so recognise that
Brilliant thanks for sharing.

I would have read this sooner
... but I forgot. Thanks for buying the book - I think.

Brilliant, Honeybunny!
I would say submit this to Reader's Digest, but they're way
too uptight for some of these gems. Oh well, it's their loss.

Nap time
I have always loved this. Even though it was portrayed as a punishment... Thank-you for the nice laugh it made my day.

Blimy, How Old Do People Have to Be, to get like That ?
I agree more with the position taken here by Angharad. I for example am 78, but still work, even if mostly only as an unpaid volunteer for a couple of local charitable Companies - one teaches children, including those with "special needs", how to ride and look after Horses, the other concerns itself with trying to get people in our tiny island community to clean the place up a bit, to improve the attractiveness and facilities for Tourists, whom we rather neglect at present, but they would bring lotsa dosh to us, that would be widely distributed, which is infinitely better for us all than the usual Government Grants, that gets quickly wasted on some silly project like building a yacht harbour at a HUGE cost, which currently has not a single yacht in it. whilst the inhabitants of that township now have all but one of a whole row of shops closed down for the winter, because nothing happens there now. Even their local police station has been closed for the winter.
In the local township where I live an enormous new Town Hall was erected on top of a hill, but it is too big for most meetings and events, with just one big space inside and a not well fitted out "kitchen", cloak rooms and a removable stage for when needed, limited parking places, difficult access roads, and very little else. Whenever it rains (as it often does, here) the noise on the metal roof makes hearing whatever is being done inside impossible to hear. Ot remains empty for about 3/4 of the time. When one looks and sees what we have for the enormous costs of building it, one has to wonder where all the money went !
We are encouraging local folks, young and old, to start up businesses, with expert support and mentoring, supporting with a local Credit Union, and running many Courses on a wide range of business skills.
I have so much to do I can only get 4 hours of sleep at night, but as I have never needed more than that, I am not complaining. Making Lists of "To Do's Today" for example, is a standard approach to organising one's time that ought to be part of the methods of ANY Manager or person self-employed, as being disorganised always results in not achieving much on a particular day !

Naps
Yes, I have come to love naps. This may sound perverse, but I especially enjoy when I wake up and have no idea where I am or what day or time it is. It makes me feel like I've been asleep for ages.
