I don't get many hits on my Blogs but read other blogs sometimes and comments that are posted. Hits and Kudos scores and writers concerns cropped up a few times.
I read historical stories aren't interesting to most readers and also noticed a lot of new writers and members yet a general decline in hits of all stories. There was some good advice.
I learned from others to put a good photograph along with the story that attracts the hits. Proof is 'Feminine Fit'. I wasn't surprised to get almost 10,000 hits for the first chapter with a great photo that appealed to me. The kudos is different and the kudos come in the first 1000 or so hits as a general rule for my stories. Probably the same for others.
I got 200 kudos from 5000 hits for a historical story with a picture that I based the story around. mmm just like feminine fit I suppose and same for One of the Girls that also got 10,000 hits. My biggest challenge was finishing a story that Melanie E started that did OK very much too. Not a bad hits record and for once I had to write about magical influence.
My advice, like Mel's was recently, is to take no notice of hits and kudos as writers and also give writers a chance and a bit of encouragement if they lose confidence. If a picture inspires you to write a story great. A picture is worth a thousand words, or is it hits?
