I finally got the referral for the PICC line and am now on antibiotics for the next 6 weeks. Each morning I have to go in and get a daily IV as well as carry around this pump that gives me IVs three times a day.

They put the PICC line in and I promptly proceed to tear half of it out getting into my car (It got caught on the seat or something as I leaned getting in). Doctor is still using the line though it's now at the mid point, he might change it by wednesday.

Here is the thing. I have no clue how I'm going to do my job,. I have a tube going in me. I already pulled this thing out once. How am I going to roll and throw newspapers. Especially on Thursday. I might be screwed. I think the best to hope for is a bus to run me over and end it all.

warm hugs Katie

I read your stuff when you were Little Katie and I read though all your personal struggles. There isnt much I can personally do but I can send you my emotional support and hugs. Dont do the bus thing.

Differences in proceedures.

In 2007, I had a PICC line to treat an ecoli infection that I brough back from Thailand. I had a line that went in just below the elbow and it had a little electric pump that I used twice a day. The rest of the time, I kept an ace bandage over it.

Are you left handed? Did you ask them not to put the line in that arm? Oh right, you have a left hand drive car. I wonder if throwing the paper puts undue stresses on the PICC line? This seems quite difficult. I am sorry.

Hopefully

Hopefully the air tank on the bus ruptures and locks up the brakes stopping it before it gets to you. I know things suck for you right now. I've been through the hospital ringer myself (and nearly ended up completely blind). But I'm OK now, and I know that you will be too. Hang in there and get well.
