I've a really sad story to tell. A young woman named Jennifer Gable, transitioned from a man years ago. That's the last time I will mention her as trans.

So, she was apparently a customer service rep for Wells Fargo, in Idaho. Wells Fargo hires anyone they wish as long as they can do the job. She attended Boise State, studying Art and Drama.

She unexpectedly dropped dead at work with an aneurism. Doubly sad is that her father had her hair cut and had her buried as a male.

The injustice of this is obvious. Previous to now, I have not cared what happened to me when I died because none of the family care. However to honor Jennifer, next week I will investigate to make sure the same does not happen to me. I intend to be cremated or discarded along side the road for the coyotes.

If you care what happens after, then do something now.

It might have been illegal,

It might have been illegal, depending on what the documents said, and the laws of the locality.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

In the Mormon Belt

Despite that, Mormons are really strong there and I would not expect illegality to bear on the situation.

It depends on the area. It

It depends on the area. It could be considered deliberately mismarking a grave. What do I know - it's not my area of expertise, or locality.

of the legality and morality of this apparent event, it fills me with sadness and shows how far we have yet to go. It reminds me that I wasn't able to go to my son's funeral because of my persona non grata status with his widow. I am still angry and would like to tell her and her stupid father a few facts of life. Contrast that with my attendance at a leaving dinner last night with about thirty or forty colleagues, where most are unaware of my history and those that are don't care. Contrast it with my daughter giving my now legal name and status to the authorities in New York on her application for a wedding license. She joked that it appeared her parents were lesbians.

I will be registered as female when I die because that is my legal status in the UK and as my daughter will be my next of kin (or my ex failing that) I expect that the funerary formalities will demonstrate that status. It's ironic that my son got angry at the funeral of a friend of mine because her change of identity wasn't respected by her daughter, yet he seemed to have problems with me (after marrying).

Yes, we have a long way to go.

Who we are...

lives on in the minds of those who remember us. For that father, he apparently remembered his child as the boy she once was. That does NOT diminish the life of the woman she became - NOT one iota. The length of the hair of the body in the casket will not matter in ten to twenty years, on the other hand the lives she touched will be her legacy.

Burial Arrangements

Even if you specify your desires in a legal document they are just that 'desires'. It is up to your family to decide whether to follow those desires.

If you have a large estate you may punish those who don't follow your wishes by denying them their inheritance unless they do as you wish, but if you are too poor to economically bully them into to following your wishes you are at their mercy.

However for you god believing people you should know that after you die you go to live with god and the body is just a husk that no longer contains your spirit or your dignity. So what does it matter what her family did with her body. She wasn't there to be assaulted and humiliated as your letter seems to imply.

Dayna.

ps. When i die I don't care what anyone does with my body. Cremate it or bury it or chop it up for the coyotes... I could care less. I won't be there!
