Have you ever had a day where you where overwhelmed by the impression that you were surrounded by completely common-sense-resistant people? Where the sickening feeling that politically controlled mass media feeding was recived by more pigs than there where tits to feed from?
I'm currently sitting here nursing my second beer after finally getting off work late at night, inwardly shaking my head in a mixture of frustration and disbelief. I mean... hey, can this really be happening? Are those happily, persistently and somehow all too willingly too blind to see really such a majority by now?
It's something that scares me to death, it really is.

The IQ of planet earth, is 6 billion. Sadly it's a collective figure!

Angharad.

What you Can do, you do!

That's the bottom line.

You do what you can and live your life as close to the way you want to live it and -uck the rest of the thinking process!

Media? Flush em! They will change as soon as the change will bring higher ratings! That's their philosophy.

Church's, religions? Shop around until you find one that fits your beliefs. That's if you need church's or groups of people gathered together for whatever. There's thousands of different ones out there, so you have a very good chance of finding a few that fit. If not, or your beliefs change, change churches! Simple! Thousands of people do that every day.

It all boils down to the individual anyway, and we qualify! We are individuals! Really, honest we are! We are not the masses of mass media. I don't think there are such a thing anyway. The media invented them to convince us we belong to the masses. Giggle, giggle...

You do what you can every day as you live your life the way you want to live it. Oh one other thing. You can change! Honest that actually happens to individuals! As an individual you can change a lot easier than as a member of a group or "Mass" of people.

Be yourself, give of yourself, believe what you truly believe in. That's it! Life is a lot simpler than we could believe.

Hey when the shit hits the fan, and it will hit the fan. I want my own room to go to, not a collective room with thousands of others screaming "SAVE ME" to those that are saying "I'M SAVED" or the one asking you to 'DONATE' to them and they can guarantee your salvation. Giggle, giggle.

When the shit stops falling, and your standing there waiting your turn, where are all those thousands of people then?

Nope, life is an individual thing made up of individuals and you qualify! YES, you do! Isn't that KEWLIES!

Live your life by being yourself and being true to yourself. That's all life is asking and that's all you can actually truly give.

noticed. Can't honestly say I like it tho'.

Been going on for a while too.

And no one seemed to notice until recently. Well, a few of us did.

Got links to some old stuff on the subject if anyone wants to do some less than joyous reading.

"In this universe there are many strange interesting things. I like to think I am one of those Strange interesting things. "

Funny enough

I never thought anyone would read this, much less comment on it (more coments than to my stories total, anyway *grins*)

Anyway, by now I'm done with the beer, still listening to Metal (mostly Blacky Lawless' stuff) at full blast and still sort of wondering where this will lead to. Not that I haven't been there before, mind you. And more often than not I tried to close my eyes before it. But right now I know I'll see just the same tomorrow, or for that matter rather today, as it's way past midnight over here and my body or rather my mind is still refusing to sleep.
What's still- quite persistently - scaring me is where this will ultimately lead. I see myself watching that rat race day after day and if I for once am honest with myself, I look upon it with a mixture of helplessness and incredulity. I mean... hey, yeah, there's those voices that cry out.. but if they're heard, then just because of some media frenzy.
In the end this resolute resistance to reason is sickening and worse yet, somehow spreading like a disease. You can't - for the life of it - talk to those people. They'll feed you lies the most naive virgin won't believe, while they still do themselves.
Bottom line is - and this is what's scaring me to death - those are the folks you just can't ignore anymore. They slowly but surely pass as a majority these days. I've seen it [with my own eyes (if you'll excuse me borrowing from a different culture)]in America, I've seen it in Britain and I'm seeing it in Germany (and those won't be the only places, but they're the one's I can claim to know about)... there's a few that feed and more and more and more and more that suck it up undoubted and unquestioned and in the end form the vox populi. The blind leading the decapacitated.
And me? Me as in us all? Me's suddenly right in the middle of it all, swept away, screaming reason and abuse to the deaf, unable and unwilling to hear.
Shit, I'm just twentyelevenish, supposedly got many years ahead of me, after figuring I _would_ die to see my twentyfirst year differently.
     Where will this end?

Stop!

Stop. Watching. TV.

It's the only solution. If you must watch some news now and again in the US, stick to Public Television. The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, or the half-hour BBC News for Public Television.

Commercial television news (broadcast and cable) is designed to be both worthless and upsetting. It makes the audience more receptive to the ads, and the advertisers pay good money for that.

You are getting seriously upset and depressed, and that's not good. There are good people all around you. Maybe not immediately around you, but not far. Don't let yourself fixate on the bad things. Remember, the Bell Curve has always been there. Ten percent are outstanding/wonderful, eighty percent are some degree of mediocre and ignorable, and ten percent are god-awful. This is not new. What's new is that you're looking at that eighty percent and getting annoyed that they're not better. Forget them. Go find that top ten percent, and hang out with them. Or read about them. Or write them fan letters.

Feel better, hon!

I DID! I DID!

Haven't watched the goddamnoisybox in almost three years. At first because there's no reception out here in this former farm field without a satellite dish, which I can't afford ANYway and then because of what I finally realized TV is spewing in the way of "News" and "Entertainment". Got better things to do than become a remote addicted garbage junkie.

I do miss Star Gate tho'.

Just babbling to the walls, eh?

I seem to be doing that a lot lately as I watch, in morbid fascination, the way the world is going. See those two trains? Yah, the ones on the same track set racing toward the same switch. From opposite directions. Looks like a train wreck that's found a place to happen...

I'm twentythirtynine. This certainly isn't the world I was ~educated~ to expect. Crooked politicians were a rarity, so I was told, and should be dealt with harshly. Now they're the norm and dealt with... hardly ever. Corporations, because only they can afford lobbyists, rule. As they are told to do by their owners. Who are not acting in OUR best interests. Damned fool idea to grant the corporations legal personhood I tell ya.

Propaganda is everywhere, nuance of language largely untaught and, so, not even noticed by the unsuspecting/unknowing/unprepared sheople following a false bellweather o'er hill'n'dale, onward, ever onward, into the abyss...

I'll be moving to the other side of the Rockies soon. From what I've found in my research that area of the US is most likely to avoid much of the coming shit storm. Most likely to survive it anyway. The front hasn't hit yet but what follows is probably going to be one doozy of a deluge.

Sometimes ...

... life feels like a very bad joke told by someone who doesn't understand the concepts of timing or delivery and when they get to the end of the joke, forgets the punchline.

There's days when I'd like to resign my membership in humanity due to irreconcilable differences. There's been times (kinda recently, actually) when I've seriously considered doing empirical research into whether or not there's an afterlife.

Then I think about what it'd mean if I did give in.

It'd mean there'd be one less person kicking and screaming and raging against the mundanity of the zombified masses. It'd be one less person to toss buckets of sparkling florescent paint at a dull, gray world. It'd be one less person to talk to trees and patiently listen for them to answer.

It'd be one less person who cared.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I know whatcha mean, but don't give up. Just because the joke's being told badly doesn't mean we can't still laugh.

um... but what does it all mean?

Ok, I know I wandered in late... I missed half the conversation. Or maybe all of it. So, what huh... Global warming, creeping conservatism, the Islamic takeover, rampant socialism, drugs~violence~poor potty training~lack of manners~in society, SUV's on suburbun streets, a general I don't give a shit if it don't smack me in the chops, um, well I could go on. Lifes a bitch and then you die, I think that's a T-shirt, so's Che Guevarra. The world still turns and we're still here and we all do what we can or will or feel like. Each to their own within reason... but... oh dear, existentialism, whatever that is. Maybe I should do the Pierre the Fighter Pilot joke,, but ya need the accents and it's a guy thing and I don't really qualify anymore, but... well it's the only clever dirty joke I know... nah.
Um... where were we??
