of mice and men...

Yup, despite my optimism midweek, my bout of flu has continued to blight my week. I cancelled Thursdays ride, thought i might manage Friday but didn't even make Saturday. The symptoms have been changing and i have managed to get in a short walk each day but with warmish, sunny weather its been frustrating with a capital F! But i was determined to get out today for the first Bun ride of the year, I still feel a bit chesty but once out this morning, the breathing was fine, it was a sore knee that was giving concern.

Was it the sudden exposure to sunlight? it was the first time in shorts since the autumn, or was it the result of not riding for a week? Whatever it was, it improved each time i tested it - it was fine sat but stand on the pedals and there was a painful nothing there. The village hall was packed, the cake excellent and i enjoyed my thirty minute stop.

I made the return journey, the wind more help than hinderance, i stopped the clock with 71km and a flattish 455m, yes i'm still a little poorly but the benefits of being out cannot be underestimated.

Given my 'enforced' indoor time, i have now put the bulk of the dolls house stuff i 'inherited' on Ebay and the sales have been quite amazing. I decided that rather than try to optimise receipts i'd price stuff to sell, i almost regret donating so much to charity shops. With luck i'll clear enough to pay for my December trip from this stuff and the next lot, my mothers collection of vinyl, mostly singles from the 50's & 60's - not sure what's in there but a few might make double figures lol.

I guess that's about it, i'll be back midweek but for now,
