Yep, we are just 7 days away from the 'big' day!
So far this week the weather has been fairly kind, the supposed arrival of a big freeze hasn't so far manifested itself and whilst not 100% dry it's not been wet enough to really stop you doing anything.
Monday was an interesting start to the week, i replaced the chain on my current use steed, posted my cards and prezzies and purchased the main components of my Christmas lunch, the meat, venison, and veggies at least. And then my muse made an appearance, i had a short story idea in my head and over the course of the afternoon rattled off what i guess was about half the tale. It was my first real writing session since August and it felt good.
Tuesday of course is ride day, however i slept in so i was a bit behind setting off and then, well i had hoped to get more out of the cassette but the chain started slipping immediately so, having worked out which gears i could use, i settled on a fairly easy circuit in the middle of South Gloucestershire. 57km or thereabouts, enough to turn the legs but not really pushing myself anywhere. Back at the house a new cassette was ordered for next day delivery, hopefully i won't miss any ride days.
On to today. Well i was determined to finish the story i started on Monday, i got in a solid session before lunch but i needed a break so i went for a 5km walk with a cafe stop for a spot of lunch. Once back i got right back to writing and another hour or so saw the story completed. Passport to Life is now posted as an entry in the BC Change a Life contest.
A bit of background, whilst it is a fictional tale it is based loosely on my own experiences during my recent trip to Germany. It isn't great writing but i hope you find it entertaining and look on it kindly.
The new cassette arrived so next job was to swap that over, a straightforward job done in a couple of minutes once i'd got the tools out!
Looking over the next few days, tomorrow Bev and i are going on a car assist ride down towards Salisbury, i'll tackle some roads towards Cranborne whilst Bev heads into Salisbury along the river. Not sure if we'll meet along the way, but i'm sure we'll get chips on the way back! Friday will most likely be a walk to Sweden for lunch then Saturday may or may not be a ride, depending on the weather.
So that's it for today, i'll be back again at the weekend with more Gaby but for now,
Tschussie,
Madeline Anafrid
