I certainly looked like i'd been used as a salt pan when i got back from todays excursion!
Here in Cabotville we've had a week of yo-yoing temperatures mixed with stiff breezes and a few dabs of rain, enough that i rearranged my ride days to miss what turned out to be not a lot of wet. Thursday i took myself for a 5km or so walk along the Frome, i saw a Dipper for the first time on this river, its been a while since i've seen one anywhere tbh. There are Kingfishers on the river but not today, maybe the water was too murky.
Friday was supposed to be a fine day, i put together a Wiltshire loop taking in Lacock on the way to my bacon sarnie at Chippenham. It was comfortably warm, the wind was minimal, in short a great day for riding. I got back with 102km feeling better than i have for weeks.
Which brings us to Saturday. What can i say, i got as far as the shops but my head was somewhere else, it felt like a wasted day but maybe with the mixed forecast it was enough.
Today i sort of made up for my lethargy, into a quite stiff breeze up to Stroud, then, after a light lunch, a climb up onto the Cotswolds before making my way via Tetbury and Badminton back to Bruneltown, 113km, over 900m of up and five hours of sunshine to cook under. By my return i was certainly baked a little more and wearing a surprising amount of salt, guess i need to take some anti cramp precautions tonight!
In other news, the veg is coming along nicely, the first tomato plants will move to a grow bag this week and the various peppers and cucumberish stuff seem to be enjoying the warmer weather.
I have now posted Pied Piper, the next Gaby chapter which i hope you enjoy.
See you on Wednesday,
Tschussie,
